The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

I don't know much about cars but it was because Petrol Heads would consider the Lambo a very fast petrol car.

It doesn't matter whether the Lambo is a very fast petrol car. They done it purely to show how "fast" an EV car is in a straight line. The Rimac costs 4-5 times more than the Lambo. The Koenigsegg Regera is a similar price to the Rimac but it wouldn't push the EV agenda they are looking for as the outcome wouldn't be the same.

No doubt the Rimac is an awesome car I just hate it when media do comparisons like that to merely push a point that is really fake.

True but the way it was presented, aside from some of the odd curiosities like the overloaded ones, it was like the D-Max was the only pickup in Thailand.
Huge amounts of D-Max’s in Thailand, 7 second drag cars, ‘fast Car’ magazines are basically all D-Max stuff.
The Thai long tail river boats are D-Max powered, even the Baht Buses(public transport) are often lightly tuned D-Max’s. Really mad for their home built pickup.

I don't want to think what it takes to get 7 seconds out of the 4 cylinder engines in them...

I found it a bit.. boring, they were sorta building up to some fun bit/adventure and it never got there. Could be because one got floored with covid but I doubt it. Just seemed to go from we're going somewhere to this is the end and here as some tiles.

I also really wish we saw more of the toyota.

lets face it that Toyota would have survived the apocalypse let alone driving up some muddy road which even an old 3 series managed.

Go to Thailand, they really do love the D-Max, I guess its ideal as its cheap and not over-sized like some pickups and in Thailand people just overload everything anyway. :D

Or it's just the best they could get at the time as I'm sure they have a narrow window for filming.

Absolutely this, there are plenty of petrol cars quicker than an Aventador, a 911 Turbo would crush it as would a Mclaren 720S, a 765LT pretty much makes an SVJ look like it is going backwards. So most likely a case of what they could get hold off in time and lets face it when it comes to looks and noise the Lamborghini is winning it is the ultimate in sound and road presence.

I simply fail to see how a Rimac could be fun to drive on the road that has speed limits in place, I guess at least it won't get fined for breaking any noise limits. :D

I also feel they missed an obvious gag. I bought a truck last year that was imported from Thailand that has some ‘Bride’ seats in it, similar to Paddy’s. Like a lot of parts on the truck they’re locally/Chinese made and obviously not genuine ones.

I often make jokes that my truck came with a pair of Thai brides and was expecting them to use the same line at some point.

One of the things I really like about my pickup, and one reason I drive it a lot when I don't need to, is the seats - dunno why people put some of the seats in they do over some nice big comfy ones (other than if you are actually racing it).

Yeah mine are horrible, no give in them at all. Combined with the somewhat agricultural ride it’s not a comfortable place to be. Planning to swap them out once I can find suitable replacements. Think mine would have had a bench seat originally.

Strangely the agricultural ride, especially with mine just having leaf springs on the back, doesn't really bother me. But the seats is another matter heh.
