What’s the longevity of the Liquid Metal like?

Block and system looks incredible btw!

No issue with liquid metal going off afaik , I had it on the 3090 strix for around a year and temps remained perfect Also all PS5 have liquid metal as the TIM and pretty sure they are expected to last 5 years + without ever being opened up

no no the cablemod 3 x 8 pin is perfect and will do 600w , the issue is if using the supplied 4 plug by nvida and then only using 3 of the 4

hows it an issue though? 600w is for overclocking which gives literally almost no gains anyway and the majority of people are setting the power limit below 100% with 100% being 450watt

Recommended to replace liquid metal once a year. All that will happen is you'll notice the temps start going up slowly over time and you can just replace when the temps are too high for your liking, so you can just leave the Liquid Metal for as long as you like until the temps go up

The liquid metal on the PS5 is in a sealed chamber so it's a bit different. I have seen a couple cases on Reddit of overheating PS5's caused by the seal failing and the Liquid Metal leaks out

Certain games will happily use over 500W ( Quake 2 RTX & Metro Exodus ) What is cyberpunk power usage at 4k native with RT ? COD MW2 will be power limited at 450w in the campaign ( >500w) , these is a use case for the 600w . While most people are happy to have it at 450w or less having the option to have more if needed is better especially if the card is intended to be used up to 600w ie the FE or Asus cards . Having the card on 3 pin will limit him to 450w , the card will work as intended but wont be able to increase the power limit beyond 450w.

Sony should use some nail varnish on the PS5 as well rather than that stupid black take they use saying that i cant personally say i know of any that have failed or leaked out but not something i looked into just know it does use LM

375watt = 120fps

so much more power not even a 10% difference

maybe in actual rendering/cuda stuff it's worth going higher than 70% power draw, in gaming why bother unless your cold?

Keep in mind thats raster performance. Its not using the card fully, that's why he mentioned RT games as they will use more power.

Generally speaking it lasts forever. Problem is, in order for it to last forever, you need to apply it twice. So basically you apply LM, and then a couple of months or weeks later you go back and reapply. Now you are good to go.

Thanks guys, I think I will stick with the included Hydronaut paste then. Knowing me I'll plan to repaste or upgrade but then won't, and will be annoyed I have to strip it down again.

I don't have Cyberpunk but would like to know what the card consumes at 4K native with its raytracing set to max ? Yes you can lower the power but it will also knock off performance .. when the card isn't even hitting my max refresh rate why on earth would i cap the performance by power limiting it ?

Oh I've never heard of having to apply it twice ... personally i just done it the once on my Strix and was solid throughout the year temp wise

It has a larger impact depending upon the game. Cyberpunk sees massive improvements in shimmering which is a key issue with DLSS as the AI gets more pixels to work with but on games like God of War and Dying Light 2 it isn’t as huge.

The best way I would put it is the image is more crisp and stable any while you may not notice much improvement right now, try playing with for a few hours enabled and then disable it. You will notice the image feels lower resolution easily.

With MW2 and DLSS i find that turning the sharpening down to 60/65% cleans up the image a lot . For some reason they choose to set it to 80% as standard which as you have noticed leads to some shimmering artifacts around the character most noticeable in the lobby , sharpening was always set at 50 in previous games so no idea why they set this one so high but you have the option to set it back to 50 if you want and still looks good

it doesn't show you getting massive gains from going from 400 to 500+


btw the difference between RT on and off in cyberpunk barely effects the watts

Its shows what i was referring to in my original comment that the card can and will happily draw over 450w when needed in certain games and you asked if that was based off hearsay to which i am showing you no it isn't . I never said you will get massive gains going from 400w to 600w but you will lose performance in games that need to use more as once you are power limited the core will downclock itself and you will lose performance to a degree . As i put why would i want to cap performance when i am not even hitting the refresh rate ? If you are happy to do so good for you but having a card limited by power is not something i am interested in and neither is the guy who was originally asking about the cable.
