NVIDIA 4000 Series

Its shows what i was referring to in my original comment that the card can and will happily draw over 450w when needed in certain games and you asked if that was based off hearsay to which i am showing you no it isn't . I never said you will get massive gains going from 400w to 600w but you will lose performance in games that need to use more as once you are power limited the core will downclock itself and you will lose performance to a degree . As i put why would i want to cap performance when i am not even hitting the refresh rate ? If you are happy to do so good for you but having a card limited by power is not something i am interested in and neither is the guy who was originally asking about the cable.
My 4090 GameRock appears to be quite a leaky chip and will easily hit up to 500W in Modern Warfare II campaign at 4K max settings at 1.050v.

Sounds normal to me tbh mate , 2nd mission with the night vision googles has the power up at 500W+ especially when you ADS seems to hit it hard at that point on both my Zotac 495w( was PL is dropped from 120>112 ) , and the FE 600w will hold its clocks at 3070Mhz + and hold 120fps but power usage up over 500 at that point . MP is a lot easier on the card just the campaign mode with all its lovely effects :D

Yeah, that part where you zoom in with the scope and look at the downed helicopter under fire would send the power soaring! Seriously considering putting liquid metal on mine to hopefully bring temps down a tad and allow a higher clock speed.

Get it done mate , 100% allows a few boost bins higher and will be more stable if you can get the temp down, mine hold its clocks solid now. LM will pull out as much heat as possible from the die :D

I've been holding out for the Strix 4090 OC. But the std has become available.. Worth waiting for the OC version???
Absolutely not. You are genuinely going to be talking a difference of a few fps at absolute best, any board partner card is already overpriced, going for an "OC" version on top is just wasting even more money. End of the day its your money so buy what you want, but the justification for it is absolutely not there imo

I was thinking the same.
Having previous OC. and having bought second hand I felt the OC versions were easier to sell/More desirable. But these things (4090's) are beasts anyhow

doesnt disprove the point I was making though does it.

Higher = bettter is rarely th e case these days same with overclocks, these cards can lose performance at higher clock rates

Another batch of Palit OmniBlack have arrived, even better got a $20 discount and stock booked at 1.18, now £1269, a NVIDIA card at MSRP within a week of launch, miracles do happen.
Shame its drastically over priced otherwise they would fly off the shelves. The FE card last week just sat there was a testament to that, never seen that happen so close to a launch before.

I agree the whole 4080 is over priced, but all I can do is work to get best deals possible, the OmniBlack has been selling OK, another 100 have dropped today and at £1269 the sales are OK to be fair, should last the week anyway, no crazy sales but selling OK and just keep pushing for better, but I think our price on that particular card is about the best out there as there is not many 4080 at MSRP other than FE and no idea on what volumes there is, could be 10 or 1000, no idea. If the latter then I guess sales are decent, if former then yes terrible but I am pretty confident they had a lot of FE cards just judging by how well the sub £1300 ones sell on OcUK.

Well it does as your original point is 600w is only good for overclocking and 450w is fine , i have shown you 2 use cases and explained another where the card will happily consume over 500w in games . I have also explained what happens when you are power limited and that is the core clock will drop and you lose performance as a result which is what would happen if you use the supplied Nvidia 4 x 8 pin cable but then only plug in 3 of the 4 , the card will be limited to 450W.

Higher still = better even with this generation , i have yet to see a stock 4090 come anywhere close to an overclocked 4090 in any benchmark. we have enough benchmark threads on this forum for you to see this yourself , not 1 stock 4090 at the top.

Ordered. I best get me some Haribo too.. I broke a OCUK mug from the Original batch last week.... One of those would help lesson the Blow too @Gibbo
