TVs high on walls

Mine is actually a bit too high. No cables though.

I haven't read the thread but i do like my TV. I like to watch sport mainly and programmes about nature. Other than that not interested. I have a cinema subscription and i like to watch movies on my own there as I have a small child and if i can get 2-3 hours away i'm winning.

My point is I could not have a TV smaller than 55inches today and it must be at the perfect height.

I went to a mates house at xmas and we were all stretching our necks. The issue was he has a small house and he decided to stick it above the fireplace. I told him he might as well rip it down as i'll never watch that TV again. I said it in a lovely way mind.

Its actually not too bad most of the time, sat about 4 meters back you can really recline on the sofa. Tend to pull it down for movies (makes the screen take up more field of view).

My wife didn't like that its not flush with the wall. But then again, one night she was struggling with a sore neck and was glad of the bracket.

I think I did a pretty good job of hiding the cables.

But 'in line with eyes' is not about height surely? It's about being perpendicular to your head? (In your sight line)

My TV in my bedroom is mounted quite high, but I watch it lying on my bed, prompt up on pillows etc and find I have to crane my head downwards to see it sometimes. Not too dissimilar in the living room, I'm usually lying on the couch and so it's a matter of turning and adjusting my head anyway, so it wouldn't really matter if it was a meter higher.

I get it if you generally sit upright though I guess.
 
Both my TVs are wall mounted (1 with a movable arm).

The one in the lounge is a little high but we sit far enough away that it doesn't make a difference. The one in the TV room is central and at perfect height for the sofa we have in front of it.

It works for us and uses up less floor space with yet another piece of furniture.

This is what I’m talking about! People in small houses with TVs far too big, better suited for large 4-5 bedroom homes.
 
I have our TV on the wall but looked up best practice for placement of it and measured distance from sofa, height of seat and then placed the TV just slightly above what it would have been if on the supplied stand.

Though, yes I have seen some people places TVs up too high and wonder how they don't suffer from stiff necks.

I was considering lying to not agree. But I agree. I do hate tvs that are high. Like at cinema. I'll try and find a seat in the middle. Who wants to sit at the back?

Obviously this does not mean wall mount is bad. As yes. Walls start from the floor! :D
