But as I suspected, they've still not confirmed whether all 8 dogs were involved in the attack, the DM are only mentioning Dachshunds because it's a popular breed. They also mention a Leonberger which is a massive dog weighing a little less than an adult male would.

I'd be mortified if my dog was out in a group walk and one or two dogs in the group ended up killing the walker and was then at risk of being put down.

I can't imagine it really being possible, to walk not only eight dogs at the same time - but dogs of all different shapes/sizes/breeds.. It sounds like an absolute ******* nightmare.

A friend of mine has 5x Akitas, all exactly the same and he walks them at once - but all the dogs grew up, live and play together, and he's owned Akitas all his life and has never had a problem, he's also knows how to impose himself as the leader, I've never seen his dogs even get close to being out of control.

This whole story just sounds like someone trying to do far too much at once...

Yeah that was my thoughts, trying to walk different sized breeds from different families has gotta be very hard work. Rather than splitting them into 2 groups for example.

Also, the supervision isn't just to prevent the dog from attacking the child, but to ensure the child doesn't do something totally stupid, and all kids do stupid stuff. One time my friends 4 year old girl, decided to jump up and stamp on the tail of his Bullmastiff whilst it was asleep, from nowhere - she just stamped on it. Thankfully the dog just slowly turned around and glared at her before going back to sleep :D

You just cannot leave young kids and animals along together, ever.. It's like leaving a young child alone with a knife or a power tool - you just don't ever do it.

That's weird because I was a 5 year old child when my parents first got a dog and I am still alive.

And I have since had 4 more dogs that haven't attacked any humans (children or adults)

My 10 year Labrador did once kill a fat pigeon in the garden, perhaps I should have put her down then as she's clearly a cold blooded killer.

But then again I once killed a pigeon with my car, so maybe they should put me down.

Why do you bring up my character, this has nothing to do about me and everything to do with how dangerous dogs are. I do not care if the dog you have is friendly and "has never hurt anyone" they all have the potential to cause harm to a human at any stage. I am looking out for my children so my character is fine thank you very much

Well, it's a bit of an asinine thing to suggest isn't it?

We just go out and murder 13 million dogs, right off the bat - because very rarely, (and it is very rarely) something bad happens.

I suspect the unnamed dog breeds are not bully or terrier breeds either, the daily mail would have gleefully reported that if they were.
 
I can say I have 2 big dogs and a girl aged 8. Both my dogs wer puppies 8 weeks old and have grown up around children and other small pets. I know leaving them unsupervised with a toddler is probably asking for trouble, a toddler can poke eyes pull tails the list goes on, if this dog is a rescue or a new pet (adult) I'm sorry but you don't have a clue what trauma has happened to this animal in the past, it probably has snapped or got triggered by trauma that happened in the past, perhaps the little girl jumped on the dog, pulled it's tail.

This is where I have a big issue people taking rescue dogs when they have children. It should be a big NO NO!

How many recently have been recuse dogs or just got a dog (adult of a 'mate')? Seems all too common.

The rescue centres we've looked at won't entertain families with children, probably for this reason.
