I agree even as someone that is looking at the 3d's, I think those gains are unrealistic

I think is limited as performance / core, not necessarily as loading the CPU 100%. I haven't played FC6 with the 2600x, but I did FC5 and it could bottleneck even a rtx2080.FC6 does not stress the CPUGood grief... i've seen my CPU loaded higher with 10 year old DX11 games... FC6 is a lot of things, but high stress on the CPU is defiantly not one of them.
Why would you need more than 6 cores? If anything you want fewer faster cores.
Also Elden Ring runs maxed out on a potato, so not sure why again you need more than 6 cores (or why you'd need a 4090 for that matter).

Interesting, so the x3D chip is not fully unlocked (probably why they removed the Unlocked detail previously on their website), but it mostly is unlocked for most overclocking type of features. It's main loss is mising out on voltage controls which remains in the X model. So if anyone is aiming for highest scores where you need more volts to push for more, the X model is still the one to go for. Although in most cases, it's probably not going to matter much since it's the speed of removal of the heat from the CPU that's the biggest problem whether X or x3D.
PBO still allows you overvolt even if you can't set fixed voltages. So we shall see.
AMD probably just want their PBO algorithm controlling everything to keep it safe. So you can't set the multiplier or voltage yourself.

Starting to seem like if you want to push the limits of your hardware, even if its just for benching you are getting limited by AMD now - which is a shame - Althought it wont affect the general "user" i must admit i like to push the new hardware initially so I can see what it is capable of - Given how they locked down the new GPUs, would be a shame if they did similar with the X3D chips (although I can understand why they would do that)
Not at all, even the none X 65 watt chips are fully unlocked so you can save money and turn them in to X chips and beyond by pressing a couple of buttons...
Its only the X3D chips and that's only because the 3D stacked cache is sensitive to over voltage. They are giving you everything but that.

Personally prefer tighter timings (had to do it this way as going from 2 x 8gb stick to 4 x 8gb sticks meant i could post at anything over 3666mhz, even with insane voltages)

If you are looking for Overclocking go Intel. Fixed voltage OC, Adaptive voltage OC, or just a nice and simple undervolt to get it running nice and fast whilst being very efficient. Considering the 3d CPU’s have always been targeted at the people that don’t want to touch settings etc, this should come as no surprise.

you got the latency way under 60ns.There is no way in hell i could get timings anywhere near that with my RAM, it wont even do 14-14-14 at XMP, yours look like Samsung E, mine are Micron E.
I think i did well tho, my latency and read / write / copy speeds are not far off yours

I get the 1080P benchmarks as a 'best case' to show cpu gaming performance, but does anyone bench 1440P? How many new owners of a 7000XD3 (and equivalent gpu) will actually game at HD quality? 10%?
I've been 4K gaming for 7 years with one cpu upgrade in that period, only problem I had was MSFS20 on 4 core Skylake, and even that wasn't terrible to be honest.
Looks like you got a decent 5800X, mine was a bit of a lemon with basically no wiggle room for curve. Much happier with the non lemon 5800X3D I have now which hits almost the same MT scores as the 5800X did

What i do know is mine has 2 CCD's with one, (CCD 1) disabled, so it was originally binned to be a 5950X.

I remember that, people in the know buying an Athlon X3 in the hope of turning it in to an Athlon X4.
Its one of the software things that 1usnum or whatever his name is made, the guy that makes all this software for Ryzen CPU's, it reads the chip an tells you all sorts about it, including how many CCD's are in it and which is disabled, if any, no option to turn it on tho
