I'm the same. I really wonder whether Nvidia's strategy will work in the midrange market. I can see why halo cards will sell for stupid prices. I can also understand that enthusiast and high-end cards are not that susceptible to price increases. The midrange, however, usually consists of pretty price-sensitive consumers who might also be more affected by cost of living increases. Let's wait and see. There is demand, but not that much for these prices, apparently.
Anyone know if the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 12GB VENTUS has a metal backplate? I suspect not.
This release is a total non-event. Pricing is all wrong.
You can apply that to the entire 4000 series, including the cards that aren't released yet!
".....and the crowed goes mild!"Still see green in stock for the cheapest ones, think that says it all.

Nothing seems to be sold out anywhere. FE is still in stock as well as all types of MSRP models.Still see green in stock for the cheapest ones, think that says it all.

Yeah exactly. Even for me with a 3060 I don't really see the point, like if I wanted to spend that much I would already have a 3080 FE as it wasn't that much more expensive than the 4070 to begin with. And there's no chance I'll upgrade to a 4060/ti because I won't be able to run stable diffusion properly any more. The trouble is, most of the people that wanted this level of performance likely already have it. It just isn't worth upgrading from a 3070/3070ti/3080, because of the cost.
If this was more in the £400 - £500 range, it would be more worth it for those who already have a mid to high level card.
The market for graphics cards is not infinite (it was infinite due to mining - and im not entirely sure Nvidia get that) . That is why Nvidia can't just keep raising prices, raising the price of tiers, and keeping price/performance the same. It is a road to nowhere.
It is, effectively the same performance they released over 2 and a half years ago for the same price.

Just had a look at one of the only online stores in Europe that lists almost exact sold numbers (it's a German store, but I think I can't mention it here). It's the market leader in Germany, and they have sold about 115 4070's since launch. That's a ridiculously small amount
Because increasingly people seem aware that nvidia is pushing tiers up. This generation is probably worse than Turing in many ways, because it's on a new node too.Nothing seems to be sold out anywhere. FE is still in stock as well as all types of MSRP models.
Would a secondhand RTX3090 make sense?Yeah exactly. Starting to make the 7900XT look like a real bargin.
You can already buy a 7900xt for the same price as the upper end AIB 4070 cards and while the XT uses a lot more power it’s much faster. If AMD shaved even £50 or £100 off the price of it they would have the card to buy right now .
