A tad premature for statements like that. They are hardly falling over themselves to get to the border. Just think back to how fluid the frontlines were 6 months ago. Just because the war has stagnated over the winter dosnt mean we are seeing the ending of this conflict any time soon. I'd like to share in your optimism, how ever I will stay my excitement till we start seeing large scale withdrawals, if they ever happen.

I agree. My main worry is the amount of losses the Ukranians will take once they go on the offense. They've been losing a lot of manpower from defending and we can assume they're going to lose a higher ratio when attacking.

I'm hoping that it's the Russian morale and nerve that let them down, especially when faced with a motivated and well equipped Ukranian force, and we see a lot more of the collapse of the Russian lines that we saw previously.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that the Russian Army has pulled back from the northern outskirts of Bakhmut to “more advantageous positions by the Berkhivka Reservoir.”

A retreat then.

A retreat infers the Russian army has professional soldiers and competent leaders of which they have neither. The word to use in this regard is 'routed'.

Peace is apparently impossible, then Trump shows up shaking hands with Kim Jong-un inside North Korea.

You guys must realise Biden isn't even trying to get a peace deal, one that would be good for Ukraine as well as Russia, he's not interested. He doesn't give a **** about inflation and food prices, let alone the thousands of dead soldiers and civilians on both sides, he's happy for the war to carry on because it weakens Russia and that's what the people in charge of America want.
So what outcome do you think him, Trump or anyone else could achieve?

Ukraine are not giving Putin anymore territory, Putin may accept a deal which lets him keep what he occupies, he would be mad not to, but that a huge victory for him.

Do you think that's a fair deal for Ukraine?

There is no easy out of this one, its going on till the end, even I by some miracle Trump did get re-elected and pulled the US out of NATO, which he will, it wouldn't stop the rest of Ukraines backers suppling them.

Your dreaming if you think anyone can do a deal here its impossible.

Senator John McCain said it perfectly, Putin sees weakness when anyone ponders to him, so he always goes for more.

These posts are so weird.

Trump said he could end the war in 24 hours, not me. I simply said he actually had an intent to seek a peace deal which is lacking in the current administration. I have no idea what Trump could achieve, but considering he actually shook hands with the North Korean leader, I'd imagine it's more than what is currently the passive and largely invisible US President.

You've then decided a peace deal would mean giving Putin territory and asked me if that's a fair deal? Dumb. I even specifically said one that Ukraine would agree to.

Then you've said there's no easy way out, how do we know when no one is bothering to even try and negotiate, are you happy that thousands of people are dying on both sides? Any rational person who understands the horror of war would want it to end at the earliest opportunity.

Then you've talked about Trump leaving NATO despite him never actually saying that? It's just BS, he didn't leave NATO in his first 4 years in charge, he hasn't stated that's his intent, yet this is what you've decided? It's a simply misinformation, or to quote Trump "fake news".

I think Putin sees weakness in Biden. You'll note he invaded Ukraine 1 year after Trump left office and not when Trump was in charge.
