Russians claim they have stopped the Ukrainian counter offensive and inflicted heavy losses, destroying 10 AMX tanks, 8 Leopard tanks and a hundred Bradleys and killed 1500 soldiers

No evidence has been provided and no comment from the ukranians

Not sure why, but I was expecting a hammer blow from the Ukranians, these so far just seem like fairly light probing attacks in different places.
Surely they must have a pretty good idea of the Russian defenses from western intelligence?

Much longer legs than the F16s. Not sure if maintenance would be an issue?
The aircraft in question are Hornets not Super Hornets so they're knocking on 40 and had higher maintenance requirements than an F-16 when new.

There's also the fact that the original Hornets weren't exactly that great, as aircraft capability go they were straight up inferior to the F-14 they were intended to replace (hence why the F-14 lived on until the Super Hornet and budget cuts killed them off).

The RAAF's Hornets have had some upgrades over the years, but the fact they retired them because they felt they were outclassed by the fighters and SAMs they were likely to encounter is worrying.

Intelligence only takes you so far. From what I've seen so far they still need a lot of mobile anti-air and self-propelled artillery to really ensure the best possible chances.

Nikkei reports that Russia is buying back parts and ammunition it previously sold to India and Myanmar

The items Russia is buying back is Scopes, Night Vision cameras and Rockets/Missiles

Cristo Grozev from his CNN interview today:

"the Russian commander that Wagner captured is a brigade commander. He has a lot of high-ranking friends. And there is major consternation and indignation that Wagner captured a Russian commander, civil war esque"

Unless I'm mistaken, destroying this dam also means Crimea no longer has its water canal

It's gonna be a dry summer in Crimea and whether intentional or not, this achieves one of the things that would make pushing Russia out of Crimea easier

As another side effect, the loss of the dam will lower the water level on the upstream rivers - possibly making it easier to cross those rivers in southern ukraine which acted as a defensive barrier before
