A scientific theory isn't the same as a standard theory. we are currently on the bring of the technological singulairy (destined for around 2035) with AI taking over everything, this level of progress we are seeing today is much faster than anticipated as well which is why a lot of tech experts are saying "Moore's Law is Dead".
You cannot say as a matter of fact that inteligent life out there hasn't transcended biology into AI and machine intelligence is what ends up sprawling the universe because logically that's what makes the most sense.
Medical science is also currently exploring uploading brain functions to computers, none of these things are scifi any more, with the advance of AI and machine learning, all of these things are within our lifetime now.
The very fact that the biggest minds in human existence today are openly talking about AI and how machines will explore the universe on our behalf, whilst we augment our DNA with inserts from extremophiles that are capable of withstanding radiation and rebuilding damaged cell structures (again, this is currently being looked into by medical science so isn't a fantasy) shows that things are advancing way faster than what those who can't accept that massive change is happening in our lifetime.
