The England Cricket Thread

It's still on. It'll be a surprise but at least there's a game still on.

Lyon batting was just not good to watch. Aussie commentators on about it being a great example of bravery, it was a great example of stupidity.

Yeah England will be about 4/5 down by close of play.

This is garbage test cricket to watch as well, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce.
Yep, with discipline and well over a day to play that is a target that could be chased down, as the pitch is in pretty good condition(especially for day 4) the problem is our batsmen seem to have lost all discipline.

Then again Stokes may have been doing himself enough of an injury to force him to not chase every ball. It may be genius self harm.

This bazball lark is playing on their psyche. It’s like they feel they need to prove it works all the time. They need to accept it doesn’t.

I don't like to criticise Jimmy as he has been an English cricket legend and wouldn't want him to go out like this but I don't feel you can pick him in the next test. Think they'll give Wood a go even though he is a gamble as he's not played for months.

Wouldn't surprise me if Anderson does a Swann and falls on his sword mid series, maybe after a last hurrah at Old Trafford.

Who would you replace him with? It's not like we've got Starc and Cummins pottering around our county teams
take your pick from Matthew Fisher, Saqib Mahmood, Olly Stone or Sam Curran. we shouldn’t be looking at a 40 year old as the answer especially someone that looks unbelievably out of form

Yeah, I think we need to start blooding players like that, and Sam Curran falling out of favour has been odd, but equally bringing players with minimal test experience in for the Ashes is a big risk. I get why they've gone with Jimmy, I think they need to strongly consider changing him out for Wood or Curran for the next test (although it's Headingley next, I think? Probably Jimmy's best ground?), but I don't think the decision to play him to date can be too heavily criticised
