Forgiveness takes time.

My grandad fought in both WW1 and WW2. He hated Germans, wouldn't speak to them.

His son (my dad) didn't really like Germany, would never choose to go on holiday there, but would take a German individual at face value as long as they were young enough not to have fought.

Me, no problems with Germany at all. Spent time there working, had some great experiences.

It takes time.
You've forgiven the Nazis?

The main people responsible for the German WW2 attrocities were tried and punished after the war.

They're still hated now as much as ever. As will Putin's regime be.

Like Poland have forgiven Russia?
Like the previous poster says, it takes a couple of generations for tensions to die down. As a rule when you get to the point where >50% of the people alive ion country X are too young to remember what country Y did to their country and have only heard about it that's the point where tensions ease off. We saw this with Germany (WW1/2), with France (Napoleonic wars), etc. Poland and Russia would have probably been friends again in a decade or two if Russia hadn't shown it's true colours here.

a lot of it is just old stockpiled gear that would be disposed of (which can be expensive).
Yes it really is so little, that's the spending power of the US military

You still get the US Muppets, Republican senators and MAG morons complaining about the billions that could go to them, the homeless etc etc.

They have no idea how their budgets work, that money would never go to them it would be used by the military on the practice areas.

I dont know where the UK money comes from, they have so low a military budget it can be from that, probably the foreign aid budget or something like that.

Russian moving there so called strongest unit in
Problem is that unit took huge losses at the start of the war, so it's been padded with new recruits.

Unless they had a long training time they won't do much more that the rest of the recruits

Ah even more cluster munitions. Well and truly legitimised now....
Yea and your point is, Queensberry rules?

The Russian chucked that out the window using them first and white phosphorus munitions that burn people alive.

I think you need a reality check if you think the Ukrainians aren't going to use anything they can get their hands on.

Its going to take a couple of generations for Ukrainians to forgive Russia for this.
A couple? its been 70 years and no one has ever forgiven the NAZIS, I know not all Germans are Nazis but when you think of WW2 you think Nazis.

I see Putin as Hitler in this war no different, brutal executions, kidnapping kids on a grand scale, war crimes to keep the Hague open for another 40 years

Two generations wont even be close.

For some context here, the UN estimates that less than 10,000 civilians have died in Ukraine - a terrible figure given everyone of those people didn't deserve to die - but contextually, a much smaller number compared to the Iraq war which Britain and the United States initiated on the grounds of WMDs that we knew didn't exist prior to the invasion.
