US is investing more into automated drones it seems; statement today from department of defence said within 24 months the U.S. will be able to field thousands autonomous drones across air, land and sea domains

For some context here, the UN estimates that less than 10,000 civilians have died in Ukraine - a terrible figure given everyone of those people didn't deserve to die - but contextually, a much smaller number compared to the Iraq war which Britain and the United States initiated on the grounds of WMDs that we knew didn't exist prior to the invasion.

I would suggest that figure is incredibly low. This is just mariupol:

That was from a few seconds of searching. That's ONE city.

Why would Russia take Ukraine children back to Russia for? Is that likely to be true or more likely fake news?

Multiple reasons

1) russia has a falling population

2) removing Ukrainians from Ukraine allows you to replace them with Russians

3) brainwashing the children who's parents you killed makes them less likely to seek revenge

You still get the US Muppets, Republican senators and MAG morons complaining about the billions that could go to them, the homeless etc etc.
Democrats: *spend US taxes helping foreigners*
Republicans: Noooooooo! We should be spending American taxes to help AMERICANS!
Democrats: Okay then we'll spend some helping Americans.
Republicans: Noooooooo! That's communism!

:P

You're entitled to your opinion, however it's factually incorrect. This isn't the first time a European nation has gone on a rampage, hell it's not even the first time in the last century. They will be friends again one day, however it won't come until the majority of Ukrainian have no memory of today.

Ukraine has never forgiven Russia for the Holodomor, and that was almost 100 years ago. She won't forgive this.

No they don't, they confirm 10,000 civilians dead. Their estimates are that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from Russian held or recently liberated areas has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration.

You mean socialism, that the word the ROP have weaponised to make Americans think it’s bad. Especially on the poor and healthcare.

A couple? its been 70 years and no one has ever forgiven the NAZIS, I know not all Germans are Nazis but when you think of WW2 you think Nazis.

I see Putin as Hitler in this war no different, brutal executions, kidnapping kids on a grand scale, war crimes to keep the Hague open for another 40 years

Two generations wont even be close.

People have forgiven the German people. I think in part because they have never tried to play down what they did and are genuinely ashamed as a nation for the crimes their ancestors committed.

I do agree that Putin is up there with the other monsters from recent history.

How many Kurds and Marsh Arabs did Hussein slaughter?

The coalition in Iraq didn't deliberately target civilians. Russia appears to be doing just that.

Roar being full of **** as usual trying to bring up whataboutisms about old stuff. Next he's going to tell us that 6 million Jews died in ww2 so we shouldn't care about be a few dozen thousand Ukrainians today

He'll be posting the Kremlin propagandist Tucker Carlson's interview of Putin on here and telling us how informative it is and well worth a watch.

Yea and your point is, Queensberry rules?

The Russian chucked that out the window using them first and white phosphorus munitions that burn people alive.

I think you need a reality check if you think the Ukrainians aren't going to use anything they can get their hands on.

Either people cannot read or they are just obtuse.

The guardian is reporting over 500,000 casualties now combined but concedes the figures are vague because the Russians underestimate (no ****), and the Ukrainians don't release and the US doesn't focus on it.

Interesting that this republican in the USA has submitted an amendment which will force the secretary of defense to report to Congress and therefore public on all deaths, injuries and equipment losses for both sides.

Will take 180 days for it to come out. I wonder what the figures will say? Presumably the intelligence agencies have a relatively good idea. If it sustains (I suspect will exceed :/ ) the 500k figure then that is absolutely shocking.

Following on from this, seems like more articles coming out saying figures were actually around 70k dead not 17k. Rolling back figures with the soon to be released real figures?

Interesting point here:

Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar earlier released a statement warning that those who release casualty numbers would be liable to criminal prosecution.

"Why is this data secret?" she asked rhetorically. "Because during the active phase of the war, the enemy uses the number of dead and wounded to calculate our likely further actions… If the enemy has this information, they will begin to understand some of our next steps."

The reason doesn't make sense, calculate further actions? I wonder if it's because people would be shocked at the real numbers and they wonder if people would question what on earth is going on.

To quote the BBC:

The figures remain classified. But US officials, quoted by the New York Times, recently put the number at 70,000 dead and as many as 120,000 injured. It is a staggering figure, from an armed forces estimated at only half a million strong. The UN has recorded 9,177 civilian deaths to date.

Interesting then that plenty of places were saying so many civilian casualties against UN figures? Maybe deaths from army called civilian deaths?
