Yeah I started with a debtGoing through the Traits and seems poor that there's a load of factions but no description of who they are etc. I am very tempted to start with a mortgage though![]()
Ok so the lols that is FSR is indeed true as mentioned earlier
Enabling FSR results in LOWER framerates. I am playing with everything maxed, DRS off, render scale disabled or 100% if using FSR.

Game runs flawlessly though and the image is more stable with FSR off due to FSR2's weird artefact noise on stuff like grated fences/floors/walls etc so I prefer the cleaner image of native.
There is no fullscreen option so cannot use DLDSR without changing desktop resolution which as most will know, I CBA doing because principles.
There is no way to change the FSR mode, so not sure if it's in FSR Quality or whatever, doesn't matter either way since FSR is trash and is best left turned off anyway.
The GFX settings are severely lacklustre IMO compared to other games with superior GFX settings and an actual preview of what they do etc.
in terms of performance, did an RTSS benchmark during the first firefight which seemed the ideal place to run those numbers and got:
Starfield.exe benchmark completed, 5787 frames rendered in 68.750 s
Average framerate : 84.1 FPS
Minimum framerate : 75.2 FPS
Maximum framerate : 99.5 FPS
1% low framerate : 56.8 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 47.6 FPS
Before the firefight section I ran a long bench which lasted 224 seconds which covers indoors as well, that got:
Starfield.exe benchmark completed, 43703 frames rendered in 224.281 s
Average framerate : 194.8 FPS
Minimum framerate : 62.6 FPS
Maximum framerate : 1533.7 FPS
1% low framerate : 78.0 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 19.8 FPS
My immediate annoyance was that dark areas that SHOULD be black are instead a faded tone, I guess this is Bethesda's MO though, this makes the game entirely pointless on OLED, it's a space game, you kind of expect inky blacks... I'll see if this changes once I get into space though, areas like this are just faded black which looks a bit pants. I recall Cyberpunk being faded black too at launch but they later sorted the colour tones and now it uses proper black shades which look good on OLED:

There are no CPU optimisation issues, the CPU is basically walking along and all threads are healthily being utilised at all times which is nice to see. No stutters observed so far, as far as performance goes it's hit it out of the park really.
Edit*
Oh yeah look at the VRAM and RAM use, the textures are low enough quality than you could run this with a 6GB GPU at native 1440p lol
Wtf were they smoking with some of those system requirements?
I'm having to pick pronouns![]()
Time to try dlss
The DLSS and XeSS mod is now available for FREE
No gaurantee that it will have much impact on framerate either, it looks the game may be too CPU limited for upscaling to do anything (unless you have a very low end GPU) and the game requires frame generation

snip.
Nice trying now!
The reason i assume you're getting less FPS when you have FSR2 is because you're leaving it at 100% render scale, which means it's still running at native resolution, i assume you're at 3440x1440.Ok so the lols that is FSR is indeed true as mentioned earlier

That's their games in general: basic, with lots of potential left out. Some mods can improve some areas, but fundamentally is still a Bethesda game.Ok so looks like Bethesda borrowed CDPR's enemy spawning AI, I was on top of the roof of the tallest building on Kreet? Went up the lift to the top, exited, and turned around, only to see two goons standing there shooting at me (I stole some stuff from the offices below which they didn't like apparently...).
So far I'm 80 minutes in and have to say it plays fine, but I'm not enjoying the gameplay as much as I had hoped. There just doesn't seem to be much "life" going on, each world or moon seems devoid of character or some form of gritty life going on like there is all over Night City (example), or even in ratchet & Clank, a linear platformer but still lots of detail in NPCs and worlds... none of that exists here, the NPCs are set to high yet so far the hustle of bustle seems like it's on low.
I'll give it time, but many areas just feel like stuff is missing, and the fact you can't fly yourself on and off worlds or moons is quite sad to see. Also I have now seen those loading screens, even though they only show up for a second, a loading screen is still a loading screen, and why do you need to see them when climbing up a ladder on your own damn ship?!
The graphics also don't look that appealing to me, but I am extremely spoiled with other games like Ratchet that exceeds the quality of even some Pixar movies... Given the hype, anyone can be forgiven for expecting a cinematic experience.
I look forward to levelling up and getting some juicier weapons though.
The office I stole from and ran to the roof where NPCs spawned looking for me:

I get the feeling this will be one of those games I have installed for months and see what updates they apply to it that improve quality of life and stuff.
Nice trying now! Edit* not too fussed about this actually, fps is high anyway so no need to gain fps, and AA has no issue at native tbf.
Yeah figured that, I don't think I will bother either way having thought about it, native is perfectly fine and high fps anyway.

seems the poorer areas have more life and the more wealthy places don't but I guess it makes sense.Seems OK for a remote colonial planet bar. Though I have seen some future city screenshots with similar lack of life. Will judge for myself but I always remember being totally underwhelmed by the CP 2077 total lack of life and interactivity. Now Watchdogs: Legion, that had a really good interactive city with reasonably meaningful AI.
