Russell Brand.

I dont believe a thing from the mainstream media anymore... funny how its always someone who is a danger to them or someone getting close to a truth that gets assassinated by media.
Definitely better to believe someone driven by views on YouTube than people like the BBC with robust policies on reporting standards and right to reply shows.

I stopped quite a while back, when we were in the middle of the Trump election stuff, as well as Brexit. I'm sure there are still vestiges of honesty in the industry but given how much absolute nonsense there is, I treat it all as sensationalist guff.

One of my favourite examples is when there was a fire at Disneyland in the States. The press were selling the story with people being "terrified" and "running away in terror, screaming".

Then someone posted this video which basically shows the visitors just laughing at the thing:

And the latest twist to this:

"We can't currently confirm if climate change played a part in the fire"

The BBC had him front page all day yesterday, pushing notifications to people's phones, he's now front page based on an interview question they asked James Cleverly, the man has merely been accused of something anonymously with no proof. It's a complete disgrace. So glad yet again I don't pay the BBC a penny.
Yeah, I thought it strange they should bring up the subject as why is it something Cleverly would be aware of? Especially as these are currently nothing more than unproven allegations by anonymous individuals.

I thought his reply was quite interesting however as he mentioned it in relation to those in positions of power and authority being able to get away with far too much and not being held to account.

Initially I thought he was referring to Brand but thinking about it now I wonder if that was a veiled way of suggesting there are people above Brand who have done far worse and are literally untouchable due to the influence and control they have over the media.

There's obviously a chance that he's guilty of what he's been accused of, not exactly unheard of.

The problem is as it always is, it's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. He's been dropped by his agent, a charity has ended it's partnership with him, and he still loses out if he's actually innocent.

Guys a creep though, never liked him :o

this channel 4 documentary didn't go easy on anyone, it even lynched the channel it was even on, with the Big Brother days and a supposed contract of 'no sexual misbehaviour' for Russell Brand, and then channel 4 denies any knowledge of it.

Thing is people imagine that this Dispatches was made in house at C4, I very much doubt it was. 35 years ago my girlfriend at the time worked for a TV production company in Camden Town that made mainly this kind of content and Dispatches was one of their clients. Yes the program would have to be passed by C4 lawyers and their executive producer but they weren't making the program.

On a related note it's long past time for the age of consent to be raised to 18 with some exceptions for 16/ 17 year old in relationships with other adults up to 20/21.

30 year old should not be having sexual relations with 16 years old.

Couldn't agree with you more. I believe a few EU countries have laws like that and many US states do as well. People in their 30s shouldn't be sleeping with minors.

Funny how these women come out with a story 20 years later against a man with a net worth of £16 million (Kerchingggg).

Remember Benjamin Mendy, Phillip Schofield, Huw Edwards, Michael Jackson, Michael Barrymore? All ruined by trial by media.

Any accussed should remain anonymous until after a trial. I do not agree that publication leads to others coming forward. If a serious crime has been committed it should be reported by the victim at the time while the evidence is fresh.

Where do you imagine this money is coming from? You think they are going to sue him for damages in the UK? If so they are going to need a lot of evidence as its all on them to show he did it. And this isn't the US where damages pay outs can get silly.

Why did journalists approach all of these women? What about Russell Brand in 2023 caused Channel 4 to launch an investigation into him? Why are all these media outlets so coordinated in their attacks? It's 2pm on a Sunday, there's a war in Europe, thousands of people dead in floods, a plane crash, yet some baseless anonymous accusations mean Russell Brand is still front page on the BBC news website. This is entirely a coordinated misinformation attack.

I would imagine they approached them because a journalist was given a story and they followed it up and this is where the story took them.

I very much doubt this Dispatches was made in house at C4, it would have been an independent production company and they don't care what C4 did years ago.

Sex sells Roar, you shouldn't need me to tell you that and salacious sex sell even better.

You believe MSM has coordinated this attack do you? Or as you put it
This is entirely a coordinated misinformation attack.
You do love a conspiracy don't you.

How many people here were old enough to be watching channel 4 in the 90s, and the original MTV channel? When Brand was on there?

They all knew what he was like back then but he was just a very naughty boy. Now suddenly those people who give him a pass previously are acting shocked now.

He was literally mauling and flirting with women while he was on the shows.

It was all a big joke back then to these tv executives, the same people faking being shocked now. This is from 2009;

The only people that think Brand is a threat to mainstream media are those caught up in his echo chamber. For the rest of us this is the first time we’ve thought about him in years, the guy is a crank.

Exactly. The vast majority of people won't have seen a single video of his nonsense on YT. Those that like his videos are already way down the rabbit hole and believe all kinds of nonsense. He's just a British Alex Jones.

I think the most damning ones in the documentary are dating the 16 year old at 30. And then the women who was raped and then subsequently the next day went to a rape clinic and filed a report + him texting her apologising. I guess when you add it all together a pattern begins to emerge around his behaviour.

Implies to me something indeed did go on and it wasn't very nice, but with these things it's always hard to prove.

And I say this as someone who in the past has supported him and liked a lot of earlier youtube videos the trews etc.

But anecdotes from other women who are like HE DIDND'T RAPE ME is pretty pointless. Because someone may be well behaved with you doesn't mean they are always well behaved.

You do realise 16 is the age of consent. Why is it even being brought up? They must've really been scraping the barrel with this one.

Yeah but the thing is it was the 90s and society was different then. Society evolves and now that behaviour isn't acceptable. In the 80s Bill Wyman was dating the 13 year old Mandy Smith, it became public when she was 15 and although it got lots of press attention he wasn't vilified like he should have been. If that happened now he'd be looking at spending some time in jail and a life of being on the sex offenders register.
