Are you getting an iPhone 15?

Totally agree when talking about photos of friends/family etc but say I’m out walking and see a stunning rainbow or sunset, I just don’t even bother if I only have my iPhone. The sun always comes out as a giant blob, the photos look processed to death. ProRaw was a great addition and helps beat the horrific processing done in camera when you’re trying to do proper photography but the images are still flat and look poor compared to Fujifilm RAWs. If we’re not talking about doing proper photography, the 12 Pro Max already has an outstanding camera for a mobile phone for capturing life moments so it seems all I’m getting with the 15 Pro Max is “improvements” to the processing I already don’t like, I doubt the ProRaws will be that much better compared to the 12.

Yep, it's those situations where there's difficult lighting or where you need the flexibility of genuine focal lengths (rather than sensor crops) that a real camera stands head and shoulders above a phone. There's only so much they can do to keep on improving phone cameras year in year out. But then there's shots you just aren't going to get with a dedicated camera system because of portability or accessibility.

I have some Canon DSLR gear which is now long in the tooth and lacking in features like in-body stabilisation. Every year I look at the iPhone Pro line-up and wonder if this will be the year I'll take the plunge and replace my ageing DSLR and old iPhone and have everything in one package. But the reality is that whilst the camera system on the iPhone 15 Pro is undoubtedly impressive, there's too many limitations from a purely photographic sense. Plus there's a whole load of marketing double talk going on surrounding the sensor and apertures etc. There's a good explanation of all this here:

Honestly. Are people seeing a worthy upgrade from a 14 pro max ??

Also I seen images that the natural is pretty much silver like MacBooks

Having gone from a 14 pro to a 15 pro max the only difference I’ve noticed is the bigger screen.

No difference in performance, screen quality, speakers etc that jumps out. But I appreciate that I’m not a power user, it’s for web browsing, YouTube, texts, calls and Apple Maps.

I can’t even notice a night and day difference in the camera.

But I like having the latest hardware and I justify it by selling my phone each year to offset the cost.

The biggest differences for me in iPhone progression were the move to oled, 120hz screen, wireless charging and stereo speakers (I still remember when iPhones only had one loud speaker!)

I’m really disappointed in the official fine woven case though. Feels cheap and cut outs don’t even line up.

Fortunately it does seem like a common issue, it’s disappointing on a case that retails for £60 and not what I’d expect from Apple

The mark up Apple must have on their cases must be crazy. Probably costs them 15p to make lol and they’re banging them out for £59rrp

I’ll be returning the case and going for something third party. Shame as I tend to prefer official accessories and never had issues in the past.

Mark Up on everything! :D

I’ve yet to have an actual look at them in the shop, not that it would appeal to me anyway but just too see what the fuss is.

Has anyone noticed on the lighter colour silicone cases (specifically clay), you can see the triangular shaped cutouts from the plastic frame? Both top left and bottom right corners when looking from the back. Never noticed this on previous generations but I’ve always bought black , so perhaps just shows up more on the lighter colours.

Yup 15 plus is the battery king by far and the A17 Pro is worse for battery life than A16

The results match up with the early data from Chinese reviewers

If I had an even older phone and was upgrading it would be a tough choice between the 15 plus and 15 pro max but I think I'd go the plus, the almost 30% extra battery is really nice for a heavy user

Sorry, but these battery tests are in no way related to real-life use. No one ever uses their phone for that long in a single sitting. and don't forget if you did. the charging is now faster anyhow. so for most people, those tests do not mean anything.

They line up pretty well with my own battery life experience on my phone, I don't use the same apps they do, I mainly browse web, YouTube and maybe little bit of gaming and not all at once but the time between charges matches the video quite nicely for my 13 pro max. I agree with you it doesn't matter for an average user, but as I said I'm a power/heavy user and my phone averages about 9-10 hours a day of screen on time and extra battery life for me is tempting

Sorry time between charges ?. Those tests are a single use no charging involved. And in use from fully charged to empty. no break.

Charging is faster than what? The 15 charges at max 27w, the same as the 14 Pro and 13 Pro so we haven't had any charging speed increases for quite a while now.

Personally I'd argue it's quick enough though - the battery on my 14 Pro Max could last 2 days for me without much trouble but the jury is out on my 15 Pro Max for now - but even a short while on my Macbook's charger would sort my 14 Pro Max out with a nice battery boost in a very short amount of time. I've never really felt the need for it to be faster and indeed when I usually charge my phone at night I put it on a slow 5w charger to help the battery longevity as I'm in no rush for it to charge while I'm asleep.

This is cool

But I won't buy an Apple monitor to use it, hope it can work with other monitors that have usb C input

Would much rather prefer Apple try make some sort of system for docking your phone to use in a desktop like experience, they can learn quite a lot from Samsung DeX because that’s been implemented really well.

Actually it’s a good way to gauge battery usage and drain through different applications and use cases.

Also charging speeds have not improved so not sure what you mean?

I was thinking about this after reading similar comments but then realised Apple has no incentive to do it, because if they make it super easy to use your iPhone as a computer then people will stop buying Macs (unless they really need the performance of an M chip)
