*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

While it's more than likely down to the recent stresses ( https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...d-moment-2023.18965118/page-102#post-36805863 ) - i've hit 77.7kg today, lowest in the longest I can remember - i'll take that as a win.

Challenge will be when I leave my job tomorrow and go onto garden leave, which way i'll head :). However I do have an air assault cycle arriving friday so if it all goes wrong and I still pile the weight on, only myself to blame.

Alcohol is going to be my demon over the coming weeks, grieving, christmas, free time - that little goblin will be sat on my shoulder and whispering in my ear :D

Welcome to my world, on Sunday i accidently drank 1.5 bottles of red wine and around 4 pints!

Today i was 100.3, it would be nice if i could sneak under 100kg on Friday! Just need to find the right balance between regular exercise and being too enthusiastic and causing injury. Have just started the Knees Over Toes Guy "Zero" plan. I figure if i can build strength and mobility elsewhere it'll help bulletproof (using his term) my feet/ankles.

On a side note. Does anyone have any success with getting weight data into Garmin Connect?

I use a Xiaomi scale, and it integrates nicely into Apple Health, but never makes it to Garmin. I've a feeling i've looked at this before, and the outcome was the only way was to buy some Garmin scales, but would be nice if there was another option.

I use an innotech scale, the app of which feeds into google health which feeds into myfitnesspal which feeds into garmin :D

Essentially, if you can get it going to MFP, it should go to garmin.

Obvious question, have you tried removing and relinking the apps?

Google now have 'Health Connect', which in theory shares the data between all the different services, which seems to work quite well.

This morning I was 15st 3.9, which I've not been lower than since mid March. Looking back at last year, I did a similar thing, got low before Xmas and piled it on then! I'm a couple of weeks ahead on last year though and I feel I've gotten a better handle on the binging, so hope not to put as much on this Xmas.

@SixTwoSix sorry to hear you're having a tough time.

See, my Xiaomi feeds into MFP, but then it never makes it into Garmin :(

Have linked/unlinked millions of times.

The main problem is going to be the mince pie with every cup of tea which is just impossible to resist when my mum has made a fresh batch! At least the man with the delicious pastries wasn't outside the hospital when I arrived this morning. Think that would have cancelled out any progress from the swim this morning... although jerk chicken might see to that!

I'm stuck at 220lbs 224lbs due to after work commitments i was not able to commute on bike for a while.
still doing gym twice a week etc and defo not overeating.

went trousers shopping and was surprised i fit in size 34 !!
posture and body must have changed as I cant remember last time i could fit in to 34...was 36 forwver then 40....

Feels good doesn't it? 14 months ago 38" waists were starting to get a little too snug on me, this week I bought a pair of 32" skinny jeans and they fit perfectly.

That's awesome.

I hearby state that as of this morning i weighed 100.7kg. I shall promise you all that on Monday this will be lower (except in the event of freak scales readings) and Mondays post will at least we a positive one rather than a general cry about how useless i am!

December 1st - just snuck in under 88kg - 87.9kg. My 6 month average a 88.15kg, keeping me just in the normal BMI range. I’ve relaxed things a bit with the diet and trying to fit in a bit more exercise. Things are steady. I’d like to be a bit leaner, but the maintenance over such a period is very encouraging. Just in time for mince pie season…!

After my wife trying the Huel RTD and disliking it, I thought I'd give USN Diet Fuel Ultralean instead - it has similar macros and nutrients to Huel black but uses whey and soy protein instead which is probably why it's cheaper than Huel.

I purchased the chocolate, it has that artificial chocolate taste that you have in stuff like Yazoo but it's smooth and frothy - the taste is quite good once you add a bit of zero calorie syrup. My wife still doesn't like it, but at least it was only £15.50 compared to whatever Huel costs!

Nope. 101.3kg

On the plus side this post can be (mostly) positive, on account of having done a bike ride Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Alcohol intake was reduced (1 beer Friday, 1 bottle of wine Saturday and 1 mulled wine at a market yesterday). Eating probably wasn't the healthiest with being out and about Friday (quick McDonalds around 10pm!), then Saturday was testing a new pizza oven, and yesterday the Christmas Market had bratwurst and then my wife wanted some English stuff for tea as there was a stall with amazing looking sausage rolls and pies.

Still, it's the excess booze and lack of exercise which is the main issue with my diet recently, so at least those were tackled :)

You can make McDonalds better if you have to dive in. If it's for dinner then i'll get a pair of the wraps of the day and a low sugar drink and no chips.

This is Spain, you get beer :D

Although not sure my burger choice was sensible...

There’s nothing quite as rewarding as demonstrable, factual gains…

In April, after losing a fair bit of weight, I decided to up my swimming game by buying some proper swim suit trunks (replacing the baggy holiday swim shorts).

I bought them with a 36” waist, which turned out to be rather optimistic as I was muffin-ing out of them :o

Fast forward to recent times and I’ve found the same trunks sliding off me whilst swimming, even tying them up as tightly as possible. So I bought a new pair, two sizes down with a 32” waist.

These new swim shorts fit far better, and with less muffin-ing, than the 36” did when I got them.

That’s progress

I started cutting back on all the snacks a couple of months ago when i weighed myself at 96kg. I got down to 86kg last week which is the lowest I've weighed in over 10 years, no doubt I'll put it all back on over Christmas though!

i think over christmas , if you can manage to say level with your weight you are winning, most people put weight on. ill aim for neither loss nor a gain, then in jan carry on with weight loss. still lifting weights so i guess im still making progress in one way.
