******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I had the Saitek X55 and it had the same problem, the rubberised coating started to become sticky over the years regardless of how you cleaned it (or didn't). Logitech just seemed to ignore this and keep on manufacturing it the same way with the X56. shame as the Rhino's where decent sticks, it's like the company testers didn't use their own products.

Why are they doing their own thing instead if using the DLSS3 etc that is already out there and working wonders.
DLSS3 doesn't work at all at moment in their build. They had huge issues with it because Vulkan has only just got reflex API which is required to support DLSS3.

That is why DLSS2 and FSR2 are being used etc. They will look at DLSS 3 or it's next generation when they are closer to release.

TSR is something they were working on years back before FSR 2.0 even exist so assume they just kept it because they had already got work done. Ali hasnt explained the differences tbh.

Not sure why offering three options is bad though?

Isopropyl alcohol and some elbow grease is enough to strip the coating completely. I did it on my x55 before selling it.

It's not, it's due to how I read:

CIG version of upscaling TSR, DLSS 2 and FSR 2, next patch.

I read that as they were doing their own version of each of those.

Finally logged in tonight with my son and earned some decent money with a reclaimer.
FPS was decent and everything worked as it should .... Finally seems quite stable.

Now if they can now get the base building / home piece in the next patch that will make it feel like a home to collect and store things and give it a bit more longevity rather than just grinding for some ships.
24 could be a decent year for SC

I'm not sure DLSS will do much in this game, it's such a CPU bound title - there are areas where almost all of the cores of my CPU (i9 13900KS) are pinned at 100% and my GPU, (4090) is at 25% average usage.

I'm not expecting huge things this year, I think it'll be a lean year but hope I'm wrong.
Certainly not expecting SQ42 despite promises.
I expect everything CIG have claimed by summer 24 (assuming they mean September Q3 patch for Pyro/SM) to be end of year 24 tbh and anything else wont happen but that still a large chunk of stuff (most of list below they suggest for Q1 & Q2 patches).
  • Fully updated character customiser
  • New mobilglass
  • New starmap/map system
  • All new HUD UI
  • New inventory
  • engineering gameplay
  • Pyro
  • Server Meshing
  • Jump points
  • Instanced hangers with cargo lifts
  • Hacking gameplay
  • Master Modes
  • Ship HUD/UIs
  • Cargo hauling/careers/companies/missions
  • FPS weapon charge/drain system for the energy weapons, along with wear and tear systems
  • Updated EVA system
  • The new underground facilities (with only the above ground parts done lol)
With that most of that is stuff that is partially finished and a chunk shown to us as well as the fact that around 600 devs are back on SC from SQ42 (from numbers suggested at the CitCon after party). So yeah although there isn't maybe huge gameplay chunks there a lot of QoL and things that will change the gameplay we have now pretty significantly. That doesn't include any ships themselves coming and I personally think at most we will get a basic Base building element Q4 earliest and likely more mid 2025.

I do think they are going to aim for Q4 24 for SQ42 tbh but I can see it shifting to early 2025.

I had been away from SC for quite a while until the last patch. I've really gotten into salvaging with the Vulture, and I'm loving the recent changes with this patch in terms of the added buffer and hull fracturing.

Just need to find someone with a decent cargo ship to join me :(

EDIT: Just realised I last posted in this thread almost 8 years ago. Jeez.

I apologies in advance for the question....

Is this out yet? :p (My mandatory annual question :)).

On a serious note, is HOTAS mandatory for this or can I play on a gamepad and keyboard?

I do have an X56....

Honestly I have no issues with M+KB, but I don't particularly do anything high-intensity other than easy PvE bounties.
