I think he meant the whole industry needs to change, not just Microsoft/Xbox going multiplatform and Sony releasing the odd title on PC a year later ( which incidentally doesn't earn them that much money, as revealed in the Insomniac leak last year ). Games cost so much to develop now, at least in the AAA space, that it's simply not sustainable. A major flop could cause result in a loss of over £250 million. Then there is the length of time it takes to create these highly polished, cinematic games .... even a major developer is looking at 5+ years. Or in other words, us consumers can expect only one title per major developer for each console generation. In contrast to earlier generations that's a very low output.
