It's more that PC attracts the type of gamers who like to fiddle with settings, mods and things to make games look a certain way or to get maximum performance - it's always about maximising visuals or performance. And if you give these same players a console they become disappointed that there is no settings and no mods. So it's not that PC gaming requires the user to fiddle with settings, they really don't need to touch anything, it's just the type of gamer that wants to do those things

Don’t Pc players spend more time fiddling with settings, than actually playing the game ? - or so I hear.

Edit. This should have been worded as a question tbh.

This and how expensive everything got for me. I'd get a new game and spend the best part of an hour ******* about with settings and spend most of my time staring at the overlay for FPS, temps, etc. Not to mention unstable driver and having to force through an un-optimised game or wait a while for a stable driver.

I really miss the satisfaction of building up a machine and getting it running perfectly and have been in constant debate with myself whether to build one but it would just ultimately rot in the corner because I don't have the time anymore for the fiddling.

Much prefer getting home from work and fire up the console, and just playing the game.

Heads up, Sony have got the PS5 slims at a reduced price until 25th February from their official store.

Missed the Valentine bundle offer, now missed this offer!, although I got the digital edition, though might have been tempted to get disc if it was on offer at the time I got mine.

Guess there is always the return route, but not sure I can be bothered with the hassle.

Exactly. I have spent most of my life gaming on PC (52 Years old) and it's got to the point that at least 80% of games I'm buying on PC are utter ***** due to poor optimisation. I am a heavy RPG gamer and the likes of Star Ocean The Divine Force and Valkyrie Elysium were virtually unplayable due to stutter. 4090 RTX here and spending all night trying to tweak the settings to no avail. I have been tweaking for years so I know what I'm doing, but we are getting really shafted these days with very poor PC ports (shader compilation). Even if I get a game going to my liking, I am constantly looking at RTSS making sure the frame rates and frame times don't go down. Some games are nicely optimised but not enough of them for my liking. I now boot up the PS5 with no worries. Okay, the performance is no where as good but I'll take it.

It's a shame, as I love PC Gaming and love the tweaking but it's got beyond that now :( (Not to mention the cost)

Why don't you switch all of it off and just play? I know my gaming life has improved since uninstalling RTSS. I still have the Steam FPS in the top corner but if a game hitches and stutters once in a while, I'm not going to go mad about it. A good game worth playing will bring you in and keep you engrossed that you can overlook any technical anomalies. Admittedly if it's crashing left, right and centre or freezing a lot then that's something to try and fix (or wait for patch).

Yeah, turning off overlays did wonders for my enjoyment of playing games on PC again. I was always way too obsessed with making sure my fps was a certain number and you just get to a point where you're watching a number rather than enjoying a game. Steam Big Picture is also a great way to make your PC feel 'console-like'. 90% of the time when I play a game on PC, I set my settings, run the game for a bit / run a benchmark, tweak to get to what I want (60fps for single player, 144+ for multi) and then never touch the settings again.

There's definitely games I choose to buy on PS5 so I don't have to worry about any sort of set up / tweaks etc. and there's always games that are optimised terribly for PC but it's nice to have choices now.

Sometimes I'll play a game on PS5 and love it - but decide that I want more (better graphics, more frames, modding etc.) - and then pick it up on PC. And vice versa, some games I'll play on PC and then decide that actually this feels like a game that would be way more enjoyable played on my PS5.

I know what you are saying, but I am to anal about it. After a while I do turn it off when I know it's running fine, but I still look out for any stutter anyway. I wish I didn't give a ***** but I do.

There are many games on PC I love and play flawlessly, but the state of releases these days is getting me down.

When I play on the PS5, then it is what it is with maybe a couple of choices like quality or performance mode. It's so much easier and I feel more comfortable with that. But then again, the PC has so much more power under the hood and you can't beat 120hz and above. I will just have to settle with both and see what mood I'm in.

It's been by far the worst generation of gaming for me. So little that interested me on the PS5.

Agree with that. I’m kind of glad in a way because it’s really pushed me back to PC and now I’m having a fantastic time playing through my Steam backlog. Doubt I’ll ever buy a new console again now.

What? PS5 Pro you say? Hmm.

I am actually glad I am away from PC Gaming (mostly due to windows being a pos) and as a result of moving to the PS5 I have a ridiculous backlog of games that'll last me sometime. The only thing I do miss from the PC is Satisfactory :(

So with regards to the slower roll out of franchised titles - I am totally fine with. It would be nice to get new, fresh IP's for once.
