Get an octopus Electroverse account and apply for their RFID card. You can start chargers they are partnered with via the app but the card is handy. It’s worth checking charger prices direct also.

Also download the Tesla app for open superchargers.

So I've had a proposed delivery date for my Polestar 2 of Friday 23rd :D Zappi charger being installed by Octopus next week. It's going to be a steep learning curve as we're planning on taking it straight away for a 250mile journey to my folks for a week away that Friday evening a few hours after delivery. I hope the battery arrives with a decent charge, but we'll need to stop at least once I'm sure. So, what's the best route/charger planning site/app, or should we just use the in car routing? Any other must do things when the car arrives, main one I think is getting the key/app/car paired up. Can't wait!

250 miles is the realistic max you'll get out of a full charge in a Long Range model in ideal conditions - definitely plan to stop somewhere for a rapid charge.

The onboard google maps is fully integrated with the charging status of the car and will plan your route for you with appropriate stops and times - it can be worth checking Zapmap to double check the status of the charging points in real time though.

Pairing the key/phone is handy, and make sure you have something that can charge/convert your phone from USB C as that’s all the ports are.

Which version have you gone for?

Thanks for the info, good to know. Initially had a quote for long range dual motor with pilot and plus packs, magnesium colour. Had to wait until November for that spec, so added the performance pack for a car that was available immediately, tough choice! So fully loaded, really hope the delivery date doesn't slip now.

Really interested to know how you get on with the Polestar 2, keep us updated as you go. I've nearly bought one a few times but always end up going for the ease of the Tesla charging network.

My neighbour has a refreshed long range RWD, he likes it.

I’ve been out in it a couple of times, it’s a nice car, the interior is undoubtedly better than my old Model 3 and current Y but you do pay more for it. I’ve not been in the new model 3 so I can’t compare to that.

However, the one thing I really struggled with is how cramped the interior is. Thats then compounded with the high dash, massive centre console and small side windows. It’s a stark contrast with the open and airy feel of Model 3 interior.

The car is really very small on the inside compared to a Model 3 and if you are slightly above average height you may even find legroom in the front a bit tight. I’m not the only person to say that.

This sounds a bit critical, it’s more that it’s just so stark compared to a Model 3. It’s large driven by its a Volvo XC40 piston car underneath the skin. It’s got that tell tail transmission tunnel dividing the rear footwell.

It’s a nice car despite this and the EV bits are very good on the latest model. Big battery, pretty good efficiency, charges fast and that all leads to a decent experience.

Yeah I was looking at a used, couple of years old Performance Pack model as the prices dipped a lot, though we pivoted and got a 2022 Model Y long range instead. At some point in a few years, if the farming duties ever go away, we'll probably sell the Discovery 5 and use the Model Y as the family wagon, I'll get something else at that point.
 
Does the terms and conditions of your policy tell you to?

Ordinary, no, you don’t need to tell them you have had any work done unless it materially changes what’s being insured or it’s in progress at the time of being insured. But as above, you need to read the terms of your specific policy.

Don't think it's even mentioned EV chargers. Just want to make sure I'm covered if it gets nicked.
 
Then you’ll be fine, as long as it’s screwed down.

I don’t think I’ve heard of any chargers being nicked, I’m not even sure there is much of a used market for them.
 
Just going through all the app setup etc for the Zappi charger - how do I lock it so it can't be used?

I can see a 'stop' setting in the app (and same on the device) but does this lock it completely so only I can unlock it?

This - I turn mine off at the breaker if we're away from home for a few days, but day to day I don't bother. Got CCTV covering the drive anyway, so unless they also remove their number plate, they'd be getting a bill for £5/kWh through the post shortly afterwards :cry:
 
After the drama of the weight vs aerodynamics recently in this thread, this caravan/rv? will put paid to that.
Albeit using its own battery/drive.

Tesla seems to be working through the list of their old V2 supercharger locations which were not the best with some helpful expansions.

Tebay, Birchager, Gretna Green and now South Mimms which are regularly at capacity have had huge expansions in the last few months, incidentally these are all Tesla only at Welcome Break MSA's.

Top of my needs expansion list is now:
Washington
Gordano Services
Abbington (expansion in progress)
Membury Services East (expansion in progress)
Membury Services West

Gretna gateway (Caledonia park) is currently having a load installed.
 
They’ll be open to all once up and running, the services are Welcome Break and they’ll stay Tesla only, they don’t want the extra competition for their own chargers.

Up until recently getting up to Scotland via the M6/A74M was not the best experience on the Tesla network. Too many customers, not enough chargers.

Gretna only had 4 V2’s it’s now got 14 V3’s which is a bit of a game changer. Add in the Tebay expansion last year and a new site in Larkhall it’s very different now. Once the second set of chargers at the Gretna outlet and the Abington expansion go live it will be unrecognisable.
 
Would be nice if the gretna ones would be open to Non tesla, I only have one customer trip that has the potential troublesome when my EV arrives, and thats the trip to Annan. At the moment the non rip off charging is Ionity at carlisle.
 
The outlet village will be V4 so they’ll be open.

The services has 33 rapids including the 14 Tesla only chargers. 12 apple green, 2 gridserve and 5 Ionity. It’s not like they’ll be a bunch of Tesla people on the Ionity and gridserve units anymore because they don’t want to queue at the 4 Tesla V2’s so take your pick!
 
Hadnt realised there was ionity at the services. I'd prob use the ones at carlisle, i'd only ever need a charge on the way home, so its in the right direction. The outlet will be perfect though. Grab a charge and some bargain trainers :)
