Some pretty good deals on the Nissan Leaf on PCH if you don't fancy owning one at the discounted rate, you can get a Leaf 110kW N-Connecta 39kWh for under £6.4k for 3 years, not sure if buying nearly new Tekna at £15.9k will work out less after 3 years, but seems like a close call as 2021 models are already only £9k.
 
The underpinnings of the Leaf are OLD, like REALLY OLD but its a reasonable amount of new car for the money. Given its obsolete, I'd probably PCP it rather than buy at those prices given you'd likely have some financing costs when buying outright.

While it feels like the Leaf has been end of life for quite a few years but it seems it's time is nearly up. Apparently a new one will be revealed before the end of the year and yes, you guessed it, its rumoured to be reborn as a 'coupe crossover SUV' whatever that is.

It will allegedly be based on the Renault-Nissan AmpR Medium platform which is found in the Scenic and Meganne so it should be a decent car underneath, I'm just not sure we need yet another 'coupe crossover SUV'.

It could be worse, it could be called the all new Nissan GT-R...., although there will probably be another NISMO version of the Leaf at some point :p.
 
That Gridserve services looks about as busy as the Norwich (Postwick) one when I popped in, absolute ghost town. No wonder the shops pulled out of that one.

The Leaf is already dead; they stopped production earlier this year. New one was meant to follow, but delayed several times, and now not hitting production till late next year, so likely on sale for start 2026 - so quite a gap!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have booked the EV now so I will let you know what I end up driving and how I get on (end of September!)

In the end the rental charge is whatever is there to whatever is there so it is unlikely to be very full. Hopefully there will be enough to get to the accommodation and charger rather than to the fast chargers.

Thanks for posting the fast charger in the A8. In scouting about in google earth for where the local chargers were located at the local Auchan I came noticed a Tesla Supercharger non Tesla site at the one end of the car park away from the store which is a help and only 3 km from where we are staying. This did not seemed to be marked on the charging apps! The longest journey we are likely to take is a round trip of 130ish km so I shouldn’t need to spend too many evenings charging up either. EVs can make sense!

Last time i charged there the actual chargers were quite busy but hardly no one inside everyone was sat in their cars, popped in for a wee, got a drink and went and sat in my car also, this was before smiths and m+s pulled out. Think they will likely copy the cashless shop that gatwick has.

The Ariya Nismo feels like such a swing and a miss to me - it is almost a good looking car but the grill needs some tweaking, the rear quarter completely back to the drawing board and the interior doesn't quite work for me.
 
So I've had a proposed delivery date for my Polestar 2 of Friday 23rd :D Zappi charger being installed by Octopus next week. It's going to be a steep learning curve as we're planning on taking it straight away for a 250mile journey to my folks for a week away that Friday evening a few hours after delivery. I hope the battery arrives with a decent charge, but we'll need to stop at least once I'm sure. So, what's the best route/charger planning site/app, or should we just use the in car routing? Any other must do things when the car arrives, main one I think is getting the key/app/car paired up. Can't wait!
