I work as a solutions architect in the cloud computing space and unless your website is running on a physical server like it’s ten years ago then there’s no excuse to not handle web traffic these days. From what I saw yesterday - and I had a lot of browser windows open - there was only one website that couldn't handle the traffic. A couple of the others got a little slow, but ultimately stood up.
The scalpers/bots thing has been an arms race for years and, unfortunately, the scumbags always seem to be ahead in it when a big launch comes around. Or did they struggle a bit with the 4000 series? I forget.
