Woken up on the wrong side of bed, @ICDP ? ;)

This has been a pretty weird gen so far. If AMD knew Nvidia would be offering derisory performance improvement (with a pseudo price cut) at CES then you can see why they would be indecisive and choose to keep their powder dry.

I doubt them being possibly able to be in touch with nearly the entire Nvidia stack crossed their mind going into this - none of us did!

They have a real chance to reset the market and do us all a favour. Imagine a card 15% off an 80-class in perf at 60% the price. 15% better than the 70ti for 30% less!

Yeah I know, too good to be true. But stranger things have happened, even in the last couple of weeks :p

Yeah, I need to stop digging I think :D

There are so many different rumours on price and very vague statements from AMD. We know where it will perform and just waiting on AMD to decide their next play.

My own post history on this thread reads like a demented bipolar conspiracy theorist. I can’t make my mind up on which GPUs they are aiming to replace and what prices. The only thing I have been consistent on is roughly where performance lies and even that has a 15% wide target.

I literally give up :D

I'm in exactly the same place, erring on the side of optimism, benefit of the doubt and all that :cry:

I imagine AMD are in the exact same place!

You know what difference is between a conspiracy theorist and the truth in this day and age?? around 6 months.
 
I started out wanting a 5090, but the pricing (and power draw) made me think maybe a 5080.
But that pricing isn't great either and with availability the way it is I started thinking might as well see what the 9070XT is like.
Then I got impatient and started looking at 2nd hand 4070 (Ti) SUPER cards. Now I'm thinking maybe it'd make more sense to go for the 9070 and just wait for next gen and hope either Nvidia get a node shrink and offer something more impressive or AMD do a high-end card again.

Just sorta makes me laugh that I've talked myself down from a 5090 to a 9070...


Possibly. The 9070 & 9070XT might turn out to be too expensive or to also have disappointing performance and then I talk myself back into a 5080 when there's better availability.

In my book, if the 5080 was ever to be considered, you might as well just pick a 4080 super now for way less money. What you missing? 2 more fakes frames riddles with errors? an emptier wallet?
 
There's stock, the problem is the price of a 4080 Super is almost identical to that of a 5080.

e: Ignore that, i was using a part picking site and annoyingly they list prices on out of stock items, most of the prices they listed are not in stock when you click through.

I mean you are not missing much if you buy a 4000 series, you still DLSS4 which is far superior. Unlike AMD where we don't even know if FSR4 is coming to the 7000 series which is going to hurt AMD so bad since DLSS4 works on old RTX cards.

FSR4 not coming to 7000 series won't affect those looking at a 9070 though. Plus apparently nobody bought the 7000 series so it probably wouldn't hurt AMD at all.

I mean that is a stupid buisness decision. Nvidia is gonna dominate even more. The xtx is gaining some traction it would be stupid to lock the xtx behind an outdated upscaller.
 
I've been doing some trouble shooting on a mates PC with a 6700XT, I'm surprised how well its holding up still. on my 1440P monitor I'm still hitting the full refresh rate on warzone at 144hz. I think I prefer adrenaline to Nvidia's XP software too.

It's not stupid if the hardware doesn't offer the capability though. I have a 7000 series, am I bitter? no as I realise it might not be possible. If they can figure out down the line how to bring FSR 4 lite to them with their limited AI capability then great, however I would rather they get back in the race and provide something good.
