Winter 2024/25 - Cold or Mild? Rain or Snow?

Today in Auckland it's 20 degrees at 9.26am, rising to 27 around 3pm. UV is currently low at 2 but get that sunscreen on anyway folks! Beautiful clear blue skies in the meantime.

Back to you John for the weath - hmm, nevermind.

We've gone to Tenerife this week for some winter sun, a lovely 22-24 every day (feels hotter in the hotels suntrap of a courtyard by the pools) which is plenty warm enough for me! :)

Heating is struggling to heat the house tonight. Been on since 5 and it's only up to 17c now.
This last couple of weeks has just been proper damp coldness. Horrible. Rather have cold minus temps but dry and bright.

The air is really dry at the moment! Currently showing 36% RH inside at 19C. Heating's just kicked in too so it'll likely drop another couple of percent

Feels like this winter has been generally bitterly cold compared to usual. Its been towards the minuses overnight for what feels like a few months for the most part.

Yeah, been cold and unusually dry for us I think. Certainly had to de-ice the car a lot in the mornings.

Beautiful day today. Minus 3 this morning but surprisingly Car wasn’t iced up. Currently 4c Sunshine all day and slight breeze. As above surprisingly dry and Cold winter. Hopefully Spring is a proper Spring Sunshine and Showers. Not constant heavy rain and Wind. And a decent Summer.

Certainly colder and for longer than recent years anyway. Usually i'd be getting my first early potatoes in soon, this year I think the growing season will be a good few weeks behind last years.

Been hovering between 2°c and 4°c for far too long now, but am feeling that as this is behaving like a Winter should (NE, N & E winds) that we might be in for a good summer and seasons in general this year.

Rather its more like a return to how winters used to be we've gotten used to mild and wet winters of late, though springs have been wet and cold recently. I'm off to spain in a couple of weeks and while I'm not expecting a heatwave it ought to be a darn sight warmer than here

I'm starting to get a tiny bit nervous about our Longleat Center Parcs hol being wintery at the end of next month, with this ongoing chilly spell in Hampshire.

We've gone there in early spring many times, the odd time we've had outstanding weather of ~20C everyday, but I fear next month might do well to barely be in double digits daily.

Surprisingly cool here - pretty much freezing and "feels like -3C" - my truck was saying -3C in parts but I don't think it was accurate. After 45 minutes working outside I was definitely feeling it.

Another cool night here too, but shorts and factor 50 ready for the double digit weekend from Thursday. ;)
