NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

i can tell you right now those early adopters who spent big peaz on a 5090 and discovering the missing ROPS will RMA, they will have to wait ages for a replacement, they will be offered refunds and will cause a ball ache for the resellers, and those who are not bothered will just ignore the situation, once its forgotten about I suspect there will be many 5090s in used market circulation with the missing 8 ROPS

I can tell you right now that many will now check their 5090s, I certainly will check when I manage to aqquire a 5090

Has anyone checked to see if 5080s are affected? i wouldn't be surprised if it is affected, and the half baked 5060 no I meant 5070
What about the people that bought scalped cards though, would the warranty stand?

well some warranty claims only applies to the original purchaser, some brands do allow transfer of warranty though I believe this needs to be done by the original purchaser or the new owner will need the original purchase invoice, also most warranty claims are done through the retailer and NOT the manufacturer so any body who bought via the used market will be out of luck.

I recommend to purchase the GPU's legit thru official channels, not eBay, after 30 days you cant claim a refund on eBay so will put people in a awkward situation, especially paying scalped prices.

I can see some very unhappy campers.

Is this your card? If so you should enable resizable bar. You would see a decent uplift in performance
well my system is rather old, 10940x on X299 Mobo, I think this helps people with newer hardware such as 14th gen upwards, plus updating my bios is a bother and the bottleneck issues, I'm planning to upgrade in the summer, either to a 9950x or a ultra 9, just waitin on intel to see if they release anything new

SO much ammunition for AMD to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory :D

;)

Joking aside, I really hope the 9070xt smashes the 5070ti and 4080 Super.
I hope it can play older games better than the previous card at least and doesn’t lose a third of the card on the way…..oh and it doesn’t burn my house down.

well thats one of the problems why Nvidia has zero competition

the reds have bowed out of the race, they will only go for mid tier cards now, possibly busy and making money in the console market, AMD have already said they wont release anything to counter the 5080 or 5090

The 7900XTX is a bad ass card but its a generation old and theres nothing else, plus these are or sold out and possibly not being made anymore

If only they did somthing to kick Nvidia where the sun doesn't shine, kick them off the top spot and give them some competition that is good for the consumer

Well contacted MSI support but typically they do not work weekends. I will see how things go and probably contact the store i purchased from tomorrow but with the amount of 5090 drops lately may just buy another and send this one back as faulty/ Will see what turns out to be easiest option with least down time

hahaha Apple level FOMO, every 2 years you have hundreds of people camping out the Apple shop to get their hands on the new iPhone, thing is doesn't matter if you camp for a night or buy a few days later, there are iPhones always in stock

i think this was the 1st time that people camped out on the 50 series launch, there was a que up north on a popular GPU seller but a lot of people queued up only to realise the GPU's were all sold out FOMO

If the place you got it from let's you return it as faulty and offers a replacement as soon as they get one i would probably go with that option..luckily MSI seem to have had the most stock flowing through in the first few weeks so hopefully a replacement shouldn't take too long to get your hands on :)
