NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

With everything that's going wrong with this launch, people really should be dropping out of the queues. More specifically, people with a position of 28th or better in the queue for the Palit Gamerock 5090 should absolutely, definitely be dropping out.
And just like that, somebody really did drop out. I'm at 28 now - the first movement in over a week.

Ah screw it. I’ve dropped out of the 5090 queue because I’m still over 200 positions back in it and can’t imagine things will be smooth if there’s lots of returns for burnt connectors or missing ROPs.

I’ll reassess things when stock is readily available and all the issues hopefully resolved. If not maybe the eventual 5080 Ti will have gone through some revisions before release.

Good move. In my experience, as soon as you get above 50 in any of these resellers you're much more likely to see stock coming in other places well before your number comes up. This same thing happened with the 3-series and 4-series launches where there were people twidling their thumbs who had preordered watching stock come in other places -- then they all cancelled.

how do you see your place in the pre-order queue

My order just says "order confirmed"

You can't see you're queue number with OCUK. Although you could ask for your number in prior releases, I understand their not giving out numbers now. Those mentioning their queue number are referring to another reseller.

It's hardly "lots of returns". There's a couple of cards that have been shown that have incinerated themselves, and a few with ROPs missing, and that's worldwide. Even with low supply and long queues, it's hardly likely to make a massive difference to queue times, I'd not think. Personally, were I in your position, I'd also be dropping out of the queue, but only to wait for the inevitable price normalisation, rather than worries over a tiny number of problems.

Of course it sucks if you get a card with an issue, and there should be no cards burning up or with missing ROPs, but I think it's hardly a massive number.

Point is it shouldn't be any and remember, most people wont even know they are missing so wont report it.

Anyone want a standard Inno3D for £2699 - Available at the usual online scalper
But on the brightside they aren't charging the standard 3K anymore.
I think they found that £3k is the "won't sell out instantly" tipping point last week, when some Asus cards sat in stock for over an hour (and yes, they really were in stock - I clicked through). I really would like an Inno3D - had a really good experience with them on the 4090, but I'm not biting at £2699. A standard card like that shouldn't be going for more than £2200.

With everything that's going wrong with this launch, people really should be dropping out of the queues.

The power melting issue only affects a small number of people/cards so people assume they'll be safe (and most should be)
The ROPs issue was a small batch that has been & gone, new cards people are queuing for won't have the issue

People will likely only be dropping out if they've been overthinking the launch issues, if they decide that the price is actually too high for them, or if they get a card somewhere else
I imagine some people will drop out for these reasons, but the main reason for people's queue position not moving will be stores prioritising pre-built systems.

A guy on a stock checking site reported he literally just got a card next day from a main retailer in the UK and it was missing ROPs. Another person got the same card at the same time and that was fine.

Definitely agree that as time goes on this should be less of a probability (of getting a duff card) and that people are getting second thoughts and dropping out.

I'm returning my GPU after hearing all the issues with the cables and what not..

Does anyone know if I can return it within the 14 day cooling off period at OC? GPU is completely unopened, still sealed in original plastic wrap.
Their policy mentions possible devaluation of returned items, but surely this wouldn't apply to an unopened product? Also unclear if they cover return shipping costs.

From their returns page, looks like you have 30 days to return it. since it's unopened, you are entitled to a full refund according to their terms. You'll have to bear the cost of return to them and I suggest you pack it well before sending it out.

Check below, same info here: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/returns

30 Days / Cancellation Period (UK & EU)

If you wish to cancel any of the products on your order and return them for a refund, you have up to a total of 30 days to contact us after the final receipt of your order.

You must inform us in writing if you wish to cancel your order. This can be done via webtickets.

You must return the goods within 30 days of notifying us of the cancellation. We will reimburse you within 30 days of receipt of the goods using the same means of payment as you used when placing the order.

Unfortunately we cannot cover all unforeseeable costs and you will have to pay for the return of any unwanted goods you are returning. Please package the goods properly and ship them in a separate outer box, including all packaging, cables, manuals, drivers and protective bags, however small.

You are liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods. For example, if it goes beyond the sort of handling that might reasonably be allowed in a shop. We will deduct this amount from the value of the refund.

We regret that we cannot accept cancellations of computer software if it is unsealed. Accessories and promotional items are part of the order and must be returned to ensure a full refund is given. Free games codes should be unused and still hidden.

Return postage will be at your cost for a "change of mind" 14 day return, but there will be no reduction in value for an unopened/unused one.

Generally you can return anything for refund within 14 days, you normally have to pay postage tho. And for something this expensive you need to be using special delivery with the extra cover up to 2.5k as standard special is only upto £750. So to send back fully insured will be approx £29 at a post office

Thanks, I guess I'll take the £29 hit..

Btw, I bought a 5090, and the RMA they sent me has a 5080 as the order.. which I never bought.. I asked them to amend this.
