For me it is basically re-playing the game over & over again. They did add DLC but didn't like it that much so I mostly skip it, though I did most of my playthroughs before it arrived.

This was from a year or so ago, actually haven't played much at all the past 2 years.

about 60k users a day on steam still which is not bad considering its complete garbage I did have a little go and nearly bought it at £4.99 4 months after release but nahh ( I accept my views on this are my own ) compared to the 1.49m people a day playing counterstrike with no ray tracing

certain I have also played games other think are crap over and over again

Yeah I can't understand that with single player, replaying when you already know what's gonna happen spoils it , it just repetitive doing the same thing again and again , I loved the last of us and red dead 2 but wouldn't replay them again when I already know what happens now

Surprised,Mr Bargain Hunter you missed out on the cheap Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Mine cost under £200 and I noticed plenty of uplifts in games even with my older card. It's worth more now than what I paid for it!

Yeah, played through twice, once on PC for the graphics and then on PS for the trophies, will complete it on PS for the platinum but after that games are dead to me. Even souls games after I have platinumed them, I can't ever see me picking them up again.

I don't have a AM5 mobo for starters. I would have to upgrade more than just the CPU? I never missed it, I already made the decision of waiting for AM6.

Wait what? ... processes this for a second. Yes still. WHAT? Are you referring to stuff like the transit system; or the extra nail options (which actually is almost enough to get me to replay it! - they _nailed_ that one!). You obviously can't be referring to Phantom Liberty, one of the best expansions of all time and almost a fulfillment of the original promise.

A decent mATX B650 motherboard costs £105 and HUB verified it had excellent VRMs. You can even get a motherboard with an integrated Ryzen 9 7950X for under £380 with PCI-e 5.0!

You could have sold the CPU,motherboard and RAM and upgraded to the second fastest gaming CPU available for not much more. That CPU is worth more now than what I paid for it.

A bunch of mates with slower GPUs than you have noticed better overall performance with Zen4.I had a Ryzen 7 5700X with optimised RAM timings and the uplift is noticeable in many games.

With Intel apparently on the verge of being broken up,we are not a premium company AMD will probably try a fast one. Example is Zen3 pricing at launch.

Poneros acknowledged the RTX5070 was only worth £300 in their estimation,which is even harsher than what I thought it was worth.

@TNA You will upgrade once Cyberpunk 2078 Super Duper RT-PT Edition is out,and the RTX4070TI will be relegated to peasant level RT performance.

Shame that @mrk didn't sell you an RTX4090 for under £1000. Upgrade path in tatters,I tell you. Might need to turn RT down to medium now.

There are really three possibiliies:

1. The chips came out defective from the fab with missing/non-functional ROPs
2. The chips were intentionally cut to have less ROPs.
3. Both 1 and 2 could have occured i.e. chips were defective, then they were cut so they would function without issue

I find #1 less likely because this would mean there would be some variance in the number of non-functional ROPs. And from what I understand, all the 5090s and 5080s that have this issue so far have the same number of missing ROPs. It's much more likely these chips therefore were cut to have less ROPs.

Any which way, the issue originated at TSMC, then was "missed" by nV in validation, then was "missed" by (multiple it seems now) AIBs in QC. My theory is nV caught these in validation, let them go to AIBs, then AIBs either intentionally disregarded QC results (on their own or under instructions from nV). The fact that there are reports of these issues across *both* 5080 and 5090, and across multiple AIBs points to an intent here i.e. someone knew about the issue, and much less probable, an endemic failure of validation and QC at multiple steps.

Imagine if AMD done this, they certainly wouldn't be getting a free pass as Nvidia seem to be.

Could have done indeed. I guess I just don't care for platform updates often. AM6 will bring a nice upgrade over what I have so decided will just wait for that.

Before upgrading to AM4 I had kept my Intel 4770K for around 7 years

At +50% perf for the 9070XT over my 6900XT, this is defo a valid upgrade route... for the right $$

If it's ~40% faster than a 7900 GRE, then I expect it to be at least ~20% more expensive (because inflation, supply chain, blah blah), so around $650. Then add retailer scalping on top of that for the first few weeks/months... $750-800 perhaps? This makes it not such a great deal - or at least better to wait until pricing settles if you don't need a card immediately.

Easy - how much do you value the extra time gaming on the new card?

If you don't have a card or are using a stop gap, then paying 20 quid a month (four pints?) for an extra 3 or 4 months might be totally worth it.

If not, then as I said above, no harm in waiting!
