Thanks for the bonus input / correction of my reference to HDR (I ought to have just stuck with ‘10 bit native’).

I’m honestly not sure how this scales with DSC in Windows in real use but if you configure your monitor to use this way I would assume you could increase your fps limit before you hit your ‘DSC threshold’.

Some monitors also have an option for disabling DSC, so that’s handy - you should just be left with non-DSC options in Windows / NVCP.

Why would the Red Devil be 100 more than the others? Asus Tax alone puts them at the most expensive, and Sapphire is arguably the best AIB for AMD and has the highest build quality.

Might be the limited edition which comes with all the extra goodies. It's normally £100 or so over the standard Red Devil.

Well, ignoring HDR, I also mostly wrote about 10bit native VS 8bit+FRC. :) Also, my current monitor doesn't even have DSC, I had to initially switch to 8bit+FRC just to reach advertised 175Hz with HDR, otherwise it was limiting me to 144Hz. Hence, dived into research to see what I am missing and it turned out nothing at all, hence that's what I am using now. I did briefly (2 weeks) used Samsung super ultrawide with DSC and RTX 2070 - and that worked just fine, without any visual artefacts, but OLED >> VA. :) That said, I would rather prefer modern DP/HDMI standard to get better bandwidth too, if I buy new GPU. I do like my high refresh rate screens and wouldn't mind to switch to 240Hz+ one in the future (but that could require new GPU too at that point).

I might be repeating myself, but I suspect availability (as in, cards in stock) will matter much more than exact pricing - people seem to have got used to scalpers everywhere, by now. But if NVIDIA at some point actually get to proper stock numbers, AMD will have to drop price to increase market share in any meaningful way.

So basically RDNA4 yet again,so once all the fanbois and desperate people get their cards nobody is going to care. The AMD cards will be still be worse in RT,DLSS will be still be better and more widely used and more devs will optimise for Nvidia cards.

AMD had no VRAM advantage either. Just AMD playing it's part in the price fixing cartel now trying to push 60 series pricing to £500 or above.

They are basically selling an RX7900XT 16GB for similar money with maybe better RT which is behind Nvidia.

Also the fact that FSR4 is an RDNA4 exclusive seems more like artificial feature segmentation which Nvidia was accused off. Know it makes sense if the price is true.

Let's see what they do on Friday. Ball is in your court AMD.

@Gibbo there will be ample stock and they will sell at MSRP.

Having said that ample stock is one thing but demand is quite another, one might have 5000 cards available on day one and that might be the most stock you have ever had for a GPU's launch but if they sell out in 3 hours well then perhaps we need a new measure of what ample is :D

It is just about what that MSRP is. that also depends on performance, is it sub 5070 ti or is it sub 5080 because those are very different price brakets.

Nvidia drivers are better as is features and software support, that alone is worth a $200 premium vs a competative radeon. Just a shame there is no nvidia blackwell supply to pressure amd in to lower prices.

The radeon division is opportunist, they might have been pushing for lower prices after the lower than expected blackwell price, but the poor nvidia performance and no stock will see them price high, probably their initial pre blackwell pricing.

Oh... and the 5070 Ti and 5080 are only 15% apart, one would be a fool if one didn't think AMD used that 3 month delay looking at the 5080 as a target if it was already at 5070 Ti levels.

The 7900XT was on offer for as low as £543 in November too like the XTX was heavily discounted.

We are just getting a slightly better at RT 7900xt re-releasing as the 9070 non xt for a very similar price… AMD WINNING! Hardly pushed the needle of performance forward. Also not even XTX (flagship) performance at this price point either! Contrary to precedent (7800xt was within 2% performance of 6900xt for £500 when the 6900xt was priced at £999 last gen).
