I paid £699 for my 7900XT about 18 months ago so anything more than £600 for a card that's supposedly going to offer similar performance but with better RT in 2025 is very disappointing.
No wonder AMD are only releasing FSR4 for 9070 cards

It was never for upgrade for people already on 7900xt / xtx when they not going for the top end this generation, but that level of performance after 2 years 7900xtx should be £550 now
I'm interested because there are enough AAA games I want to play now that my 1070ti can't play (normally play indie/aa/esports, so it has been fine for them) & I want to upgrade to the AOC Q25G4S when it comes out, so want something that is fine for 1440p. Want AI upscaling because I'm cheap and will keep the card for a long and that will extend it and like it or not, devs are using it and frame gen as a crutch now.
I don't want to get bent over though, so price/performance has to be good. Getting nothing there from nvidia, if it's not, I'll just skip the AAA games for now, stick with 1070ti until the typical amd price drops.

Agreed, however what we have to factor in is that things like RT whether we like it or not are now being baked into the engines which means the effective frame rate on these modern games will increase substantially over the XTX. Also without banging a drum here and I am sure it is something that Nvidia users have been aware for a few years now but AI upscaling is a thing to behold.
I have only become aware of it due to the PS5 pro however Kingdom come 2 and Black Myth Wukong look amazing at 4k on a 65 inch tv with me sat at a few feet on a bean bag and I am now more than happy to pay for these features even if the Raster is the same as the XTX.

Just because Nvidia dropped an absolute turd in terms of price/perf increase, it doesn't mean AMD have to.
I'm fact if AMd genuinely want to grow market share they absolutely have to do their own thing price wise.
Why is there such a massive amount of people with no cards though??
We've literally had all cards readily available for RRP the whole of last year pretty much.
I know there will always be newcomers, but the vast majority will be upgrading....and the 5xxx is a complete stinker at any sort of meaningful price/perf gains.
It won't do unless it clocks above 3 GHz from stock which I highly doubt. With an OC I could see it beating it.

Being available at their msrp, doesn't mean they were a good purchase.
I think I'm just too old now. When I look at the costs of GPUs, I'd put myself in the 60 class tier, and those cards are all pretty ****. Many other things I'd rather waste my money on, than the bit that makes games go.
Of course, if a genuinely decent price/performance card was put out for the higher tiers, it'd easily change my mind.

Fomo and marketing does. Same as it was with iPhones for years - many were upgrading every year till it became clear the changes are just incremental and slow. Same will eventually happen with GPUs.
I find it hilarious how many launch cards ended up on MM a few weeks after launch In past, clearly fomo regret or their partner found out how much they actually paid lol
