It's literally the same card, cost the same to make and distribute. Maybe there will be BIOS modding to unlock cores and clocks, like the old days...
 
I can't afford anything right now but at the same time it's exciting to watch as that there is the opportunity for a competitive market place again this generation in a part of the market where more people's budgets sit.

As much as AMD can make a fast card, their mid range presence and performance is where they always seem to shine most and make their money.

Same goes for CPUs I guess, in my opinion anyway as my Ryzen 5700x3d / 7800xt has been a absolute belter of a combo

Now that would be fun times again :)

E: Am contemplating a non XT as I'm on 1440p, would fit the case better and there's UDNA in the next year or so so could be moved to the second pc.... Guess it's a decision after Wednesday reviews and actual prices....

Agreed, I would love another VEGA situation where it's just a match the manufacturer BIOS situation to gain performance in seconds :)

I did it with my 56 to a 64 and with the dual bios on the cards was a pretty risk free boost

I have a Meshify C and have the same GPU card length restriction.

I have a 7800XT but would be lovely to crank up the settings to include some light path tracing as well. On Indiana Jones my fps tanks at 1440p from avg 90-100 on Supreme settings to 15fps on Path RT even at low. With framegen turned on it’s 30-40 fps and it’s a hot mess.

I’m hoping the 9070XT would be able to do at least medium on path tracing and give me at least 50-60fps native.

Also I would lose more money on my card if I waited another year or two before UDNA/60 series so there is some value in trading it in now to limit loss and enjoy a higher experience.

As @uscool and @Hostile and @Poneros (thanks all) say it’s not an expensive upgrade from what I have.

I think this is an important point to raise as well, I've seen people stating they will overclock their 9070XT to stock 5080 performance, that would only be raster performance I would imagine. Once you start using RT and especially PT the 5080 will be a good chunk ahead.

That's not a bad thing, considering the price difference between the two.

Yes I’m a tad worried whether path tracing will still be a bit meh on the 9070XT.

On a different note can I use a corsair RM750X on a 3X 8pin 9070XT? I remember my PSU only has 2 8pin cables but they have an extra 2 8pins coming off them but I heard it was bad to daisy chain.

Or can I just buy another Corsair 8pin cable. I remember they have labelled a port cpu but it looks like another 8pin would fit there.

It should be fine.

There is no way a 9070XT is going to draw the full amount from 3x 8 pin (450W) + 75W from the PCI-E slot.
