*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

What's the general hierarchy of brands at the moment?
I think, in gerneral, all AMD brands have delivered good models (can't think of a "bad" 7-series card apart from maybe the MBA). As for warranty, they differ card to card, brand to brand, but the terms are genrally the same. From my experience with a few 7-series and 6-series cards...

1. Sapphire
2. Powercolor
3. XFX
4. Asrock
5. Gigabyte
6. Asus

The top 4 are quite close. Gigabyte and Asus either have crap CS and/or lackluster card designs.

My be quiet 1000w PSU came with only daisy chain pcie cables, ran a 7900xtx on them (3x8pin) and it pulled 460w.

How many 8-pins going to the PSU ... Just the one ? If so that's mad but can still can be done if the cable quality is exceptionally good but common sense prevails - I certainly wouldn't do it if I had spare 8 pins at the PSU

I'm not sure about 3 on 1 cable, but when it comes to 2 on 1 cable I always wonder why would PSUs do it if it wasn't ok to use?

Not that this should surprise anyone but here's confirmation that there will only be a limited quantity at MSRP during launch. So if you want one that cheap then get it quick otherwise you could be waiting for months for it to come back down, if it ever does.

This is just a sales tactic to prey on FOMO.

Arguably I'd be inclined to think it must be ok as they'd stop doing it smartish if there was a significant level of charcoal PSUs/cables/irate customers. Or maybe the advent of these higher power GPUs are yet to become commonly used and the problem hasn't manifested yet at a significant level.

Because back in the day it was originally 2x 6 pin connectors on a PSU "branch" = 150w

Then we changed to 8 pin / 6+2 pin, which upped it to 300w per "branch". However cheaper PSU manufacturers didn't bother to upgrade the cable, fuses etc to fully support the 300w (as initially there was nothing that used a full 300w), hence issues when more power hungry cards started coming out.

These days, PSUs from reputable manufacturers should be fine - they'll use correct gauge of cable to support the full power draw.

In the case of 9070XT with 3x8 pin connectors, I certainly wouldn't have a problem with using 2 connectors on the same branch + another connector to fulfil the 3 connectors, as a 9070XT is not going to draw 525W (3x150w + 75w PCIe Slot)

It's a strange setup really, it has 2 12 pin pcie slots on the PSU that takes their corresponding pcie cables which each split into 2 pciex8

I was just thinking that with all the 12-pin connector issues people were mentioning how over-specced the 8-pin cables are. Which contributed to my thinking.
However after having a Thermaltake PSU go pop on me I've rendered to go for manufacturers with better reputations (Corsair, EVGA, Superflower).
