Resistance is Futile - AMD RX 9070 Borg Armada - OcUK Kings of Stock (1000's in stock)

Do you think it's genuine demand though?
They're already on eBay.

Definitely a big gap in the market at the MSRP price point currently due to the cost/availability of the 5070/5070ti.

Surprised to see the £700 and even £800+ ones go out of stock though unless availability was much lower on those.

But why are people scalping these?

or a better question: Why are people buying these at scalped prices?

At £700+ its a rubbish release. You could have got a similar performing card all of last year for the same money. There is nothing exciting about it at all for that price.

The whole price, stock and hype thing is stupidly manufactured.

All of last year 4070ti supers, 4080's, 4080 supers 7900 xts and 7900xtxs were abundantly in stock for £650 - £800. Why are people clambering to buy the same thing right now?

The stock that I saw that was £800 has sold out.

So there's no logic

So AMD scam pricing like Nvidia scam pricing. Just a few cards on launch day to buy good reviews.
It isn't really though is it. OCUK said they had 1,000 of units and backed this with pictures. AMD also set a reasonable MSRP (could have been a bit cheaper but wasn't a disaster) but what happens after by retailers, that isn't down to them. Neither is bots and scalpers buying up the stock. Online retailers need to do more. Simples.

Paid £630 for my 7900 XTX, and based on the raster numbers, wouldn't make sense me getting one of these anyway. Anyone still holding on to their XTX?

I didn't get any further than adding these to the basket. OC's site is garbage for this sort of thing.

The MSRP was fake as it required a rebate that isn't even on an entire SKU

They only had 10 steel legends at MSRP, the rest of that SKU was whatever price

This isn’t to be taken as having a go at Gibbo at all, but the reality is that he is not really our friend and his job is to make OCUK money.

Keeping forum members happy is definitely secondary to that goal. He knows this is a public forum, and posts these things to build hype and generate sales, not really to help us.

You can't blame him for it. It is his job.
There was a time a while back where they really did care and the community was strong so much that people were loyal even paying a bit more to shop with OCUK, gone are those days and people will go where stuff is cheapest or available.

I'll revisit an upgrade around June see where prices are at.

But,but Nvidia scams people more so AMD is 24.55% less scammy!

It is though. Because AMD said the price is based on rebates. So once the rebates run out in 5 seconds, the actual RRP is much higher.

Yet,all the reviews are based on the rebated "RRP". The actual RRP is £50 more plus whatever the retailers want to add on top.

That means the RX9070 non-XT is almost a £600 card alone and the RX9070XT almost £700.

These are not $550 and $650 cards. The same was done with Vega56 and Vega64.

With no reference models, there is no requirement for AIB partners to hold even the new RRP.

The RX5700XT for example had the reference models at RRP.

After an hour and 20min of nothing but 504 errors, if nothing happens in the next 30mins or so I will just keep my 6600 xt and skip another generation. These new AMD cards are only going to get more expensive.
