OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

It was. I added the card and it had the MHW promotion but I chickened out on last second. I wish I went through and paid. Now prices have gone up too much.

So from the list it seems it's only for the XT version. I hope it's still on.
I think @Gibbo said there was no game promotion for the 9070 series just before launch

Can't recall it was that price but the pulse was £570 on release. If that Nitro was £700, that seems way too much over the Pulse.
From a pure performance/cost point then the nitro+ or high end card never make sense. For me, the design of the nitro which includes the hidden connector and the build quality make that £699 worth it. The higher power limit and OC potential (minimal difference) is also nice.

The lower end models aren't chopped liver though nor are they compromised. Also the XFX models are the ones with highest clocks, and couple of others

I never said they were chopped liver or compromised, just that the nitro models (and other higher end models) tend to have the better build quality and nice features, like the hidden connector on nitro+ and the magnetic fans on the XFX mag air models. The nitro+ also comes with PTM7950 so theoretically should perform better over time in terms of thermals, the Taichi for example uses traditional pastes.
The nitro+ is also not the most expensive model, and is about middle of the pack, with prices ranging from £649 to £799 on OCUK website. (Nitro is currently £720).

It is all personal preference and depends on what you value the most as to whether a card is worth it or not. If I didn't have a fishbowl PC, then I'd get the cheapest card possible and not care about looks etc.

Don't forget the light bar

They can be £2.50 to £2500 does not matter if all are out of stock. I see this morning a load for different Nvidia cards have come into stock. Still major overpriced.

This was launch day at time in screenshot, link. Originally observing, then I thought I might get one to try.

I was trying to buy the Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC, failed. Following day was showing in stock on OCuk, but again fail to buy. Now price is off putting vs what it was launch day. I did order one yesterday some where else for same price as current on OCUK, but then cancelled, as no idea when water block be available. By that time, perhaps prices will have some what dropped.

This in my opinion is best card, as has TGP of 330W, 3060MHz boost which is only 40MHz lower then highest cards on market. It also has 3x8pin which I prefer over 12V-2x6. To be honest 2x8pin can handle more, reviewers go by PCI-SIG spec, not HW spec. It is also dual VBIOS, meddling users like me, it's good if cross flashing opens up. The XT Gaming OC has full phase count, where as cards with 2x8pin lack 2 VRM phases. Air cooler is ok, not as big as others, length and slot size wise, as I usually water cool, I want cheapest card with highest power limit.

It's really only the 5090 and 4090 cards that are at risk of melting due to the ridiculous power draw. The nitro+ is half of the rated 660W for the connector.

The design of the nitro+ means part of the cable rests on the heatsink, also a fair amount of the heatsink is blocked by the shield.

So probably a good idea to use a high temperature zip tie to secure the power cable to fix in location not touching the heastink.

It's still a poor connector with no tolerances.
The Nitro+ at 360W (OC) has an 83% safety margin (660/360).

A 2x8 pin card at 300W power draw has basically no safety margin according to the spec, each 8 pin is rated for 150W. Although we know that 8 pin can do more than 150W without melting.

That heatsink is added cooling for the cables
