NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

the drivers seem to be messed up loads of people complaining about black and blue screens but this might not effect IiRacing

it could be worth waiting a bit to see if they sort them out

It's strange, I haven't any problems at all with the drivers.

Although, when I bought the 5700XT on release, I didn't have any driver problems then either, plenty of others did, so maybe I'm just lucky

There's a few 5080s now in stock:

PNY GeForce RTX 5080 ARGB OC Triple Fan 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Zotac GeForce RTX 5080 AMP Extreme INFINITY 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Asus GeForce RTX 5080 TUF Gaming OC 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Asus GeForce RTX 5080 ROG Astral 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card
MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming OC 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card

I'm building a machine for some video editing/streaming/photoshop as well as some gaming - nothing super intensive all round.

I want a 5080 though...

Does it matter which I go through, is one miles better than another? Happy to spend the extra if it's needed, or will the cheapest options still be great?

Being paired with a 9950x3d I think.

If you haven't got the CPU/even built the system yet, I'd just hold out. No reason to pay £300 over the 5080FE price for one of these models.
The 4080 was regarded as a terrible buy for £1200 over 2 years ago, the 5080 isn't that much faster and the only reason it seemed half decent initially was due to Nvidia lowering the price to 1000.

I'm getting OCUK to build and been waiting since November so am pretty keen to just get going.

If I wanted to overpay, right now, does it matter which of those models I go for?

How much longer do you think it'll be until they are £300 cheaper, feels like there's always something else to wait for :)

When people stop paying £300+ over the MSRP and if cards are in stock then that's a good sign ;)

Seriously though I know the 5070ti isn't exactly considered good value either but why would anyone pay 43% more money for 11% more performance.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,187.97 (includes delivery: £7.99)

So if going for 5080, there's no need to spend more than the Zotac?

If you're into wasting money on a 5080 over a 5070ti then you might as well go the whole hog and get the Astral.
Why? They are all within 2 percent of each performance wise. You are down to choosing a brand name, aesthetics, cooling and acoustics.

How does Zotac compare as a brand?

Think my last GPU was Asus, but can't quite remember.
Literally just installed the card, looks and feels very good quality. All metallic no plastics. Updating drivers ready for afew benchmarks.

Has all 112 Rops :D

If you see my earlier post I was saying why spend 43% more money for 11% more performance going from the AMP 5070ti to AMP 5080 but my argument is if you don't care about wasting money in the first instance then why not spend a further 32% for 2% more performance, better cooling, acoustics and the 12V-2×6 Power Detector for less chance to burn Your house down?

Caved and have ordered the Zotac AMP Extreme Infinity 5070Ti. (From OC)

Despite saying “in stock” it won’t be delivered until Monday. Was unable to change or select any other delivery option than 2 day shipping. Suspect they have a delivery incoming.

I probably over paid but I figured it would be months before there was plentiful Nvidia stock and cheaper prices.

Was a close call to order this or the 9070XT Nitro but the 5070 Ti had the edge performance wise, and the games I’m playing currently either had DLSS support but not FSR or neither. For the sake of about £100 decided the 5070Ti was the better choice.

Hopefully all ROPS will be present and no black screen issues!
