MSI MAG Tomahawk X870/X870E Owners Thread

Finally got mine up and running temps look fine using a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE. Only issue I have got with this cooler is the fans they seem to be letting off some kind of very low buzzing noise.

I like the Debug LED giving you the temp of the CPU.

The new BIOS doesnt fix the biggest problems and creates more. There is a beta, which fix them, im waiting to get official. Is for 5 days running already.
Which issues are you finding as "biggest" and "new"?
Would like to maybe factor that into how I test the board as I havent fully started using mine yet...

My main drive has been in the M2_1 slot and not noticed any issues. Still haven't updated BIOS since delivery though, so not sure if newer BIOS' are causing the M2 speed problems.

Quick question, what colour Wi-Fi antenna did you receive? I have a white one but was expecting a black one judging from the website.

First world problems, but it doesn't fit with my black case!
Mine came with a white antenna. It doesn’t bother me much as it’s stuck under the desk.

Well, my GPU finally arrived and I tried it out.
A few weird issues that I could explain away as stability issues that I would expect to settle down....
eg. -1st few boots kept saying new hardware (5 or so)
-Adrenalin software doesnt display CPU temp
-Had a session hang in the weirdest way. Web browser kept working but steamVR, Epic downloads, Win explorer, and Adrenalin all hanging requiring a hard reboot.
-can not get into BIOS anymore!! (Windows boots fine)

I'm going to try a few things to see if somehow the BIOS is being "displayed" on a different output. followed by a cmos reset. (unless someone has another suggestion???)
But the symptom right now is that the splash screen comes up, I press delete, and the screen stays as it is showing the MAG logo and "press del for BIOS......" etc.
ctl-alt-del performs as normal and does a reboot at that screen....

Have to say, this has been the most troublesome build I have done ever! (30+ years)

Fixed the missing BIOS screen by unplugging VR headset from DP.
It's weird that the MB or GPU would try and pick the non-running headset as the screen for the BIOS...

Thanks for confirming. Bit frustrating that they decided to ship these Wi-Fi antenna out in white. It wouldn't be an issue if I had ethernet where this build is going, but it's not an option.

I will contact MSI support to see if they have can swap the white for black. Will report back if I hear anything.
Success. :)

Just detected an issue with one of my USB3 headers on the mobo...one's fine but the other only feeds 1 of the cables/ports....

Now to see if that is the cause of the micro stutters in windows. Agggh this is such a pain
Its bad when the 5 yr old PC runs better than a new build....
