Considering either a UCG Max or Fibre... Max would make far more sense given the latest updates allow it to utilise PPPoE properly. Thing is, I'd need one or two more 2.5GbE ports (I'd have two APs for consistent 5GHz coverage in an old lath plaster hosue), so I'd end up getting the Mini 2.5GbE switch which means the Fibre is only a little more with far more customizability...

Hmm… Trying to say to myself that the Fibre still has firmware issues (like I read in a few pages back) to stop dithering and just buy something. :D

I've currently got a UDMP and a 16 port switch but due to the size of it all, I'm considering selling on and potentially getting some of the newer, smaller items to reduce the footprint. Would that be a backwards step and I'm being a bit daft?

Power is expensive, it is 2025, the year of the 10" rack!

I'm using 10" rack now and this currently sits on top of a 19u rack!

CGF has been fine for me, the one issue I had was self inflicted.

You think it's worth grabbing from EU store vs waiting for the UK one? Just thinking about if any RMAs or returns are needed in future. IDK if you can use the UK store for that stuff later on (if buying from EU store) once stock issues resolve.

Totalled it up and if I got the Fibre then I'd have one port spare, vs needing to get the 2.5GbE Flex Mini switch for a Max. Cost difference there doesn't end up being much and it has the 10GbE ports too so it is kind of a no brainer.

Wish it had one more PoE port so I could get rid of injectors but ah well.

Finally see why people don't like the cage nuts for cabinets/racks, fiddly to remove but loving the plastic push ones I've had for ages but only just used.

I still can't work out why my WAN port will only accept the RJ45 direct and not through a patch panel.

Anyone any further thoughts for going for a smaller setup?

I got mine from the EU store, didn't really concern me if I'm honest.

Well, ordered one. Decided that if I needed the 2.5GbE switch with the Max I may as well as get the Fibre and have an all-in-one box. Will configure one of the 2.5 ports to be the WAN and use the 10GbE ports for main PC and NAS. If something goes wrong, I am blaming you!

So if there's any setup tips for PPPoE and switching the default WAN port without issues I am all ears (first time UniFi user, moved over from ASUS).

You get an option when you set it up as to which port to use for WAN. It'll try and auto detect but that usually fails if you don't use their designated copper WAN port /w a DHCP ISP. But it's simple enough to override.

Slight word of warning, I did get lower performance using the dedicated 10 GbE copper WAN port vs the SFP+ cage. No idea if that's been improved with the newer firmware. I've not tried one of the 2.5 GbE LAN ports for WAN though.

It's one hell of device for its size. I'm sure you'll be happy enough.

Need an outdoor AP for holiday cottage, have Ruckus at home but can't justify cost.

Rural. Little interference, handful of users/ IoT.. Around 40m @ 60/ 90 degree would be good. 10Mbps probably fine at extremity.

Real Waterproofing important- 20m from sea!
Stuck choosing probably between UK ultra and U7 Outdoor

Like U7- up to date/ long support, software switchable antennas. Dislike- power consumption, more expensive- maybe overkill

Uk ultra. Like lower power, cost. Dislike possible shorter life

I'm tending to th U7 outdoor but it grates a bit paying more for something to use more power 24x7 for a weather station, maybe a cam or two and occassional users.
Thoughts? Anyone have U7 outdoor and know real world power consumption with low use?

Oh and for use 5GHz prob isn't a big concern. Just nice.

Has anyone tried the new Unifi ZBF firewall software? At first glance its way more complicated but I suspect its just because its brand new.
