Two VDSL lines, it's like 2015 all over again.

Why is there a 24-port switch - the most pointless size of all the switches - and a little 8-port one hanging off it? Just supply a 48, I hate people sometimes.
I see that mentioned a few times 24 port being pointless. If it offers exactly what you need then it's cheaper than a 48 port.

Even in 2025 not everywhere has FTTP :(

Sometimes budget is tight, sometimes physical cabinet size is a limitation (we have cab at work that we had to have 1x 24 port switch and 1x 24 poe switch, simply because a 48 port PoE switch was too deep for the cabinet)

platypus said there were two others as well!

I don’t see the point in the small switch as the draytek has enough ports to connect those devices. Unless it’s PoE.

The 8 port looks like it's being used to physically isolate whatever equipment is going out via the Draytek rather than using VLANs on the 24 port.

Yeah, Draytek into it, then out of it are 2 cables. 1 to the unifi switch, the other to the patch panel. Not sure why they are not using a 2nd port from the draytek.

That isn't the worst install I have seen by any stretch, but it smacks of whoever did it not giving a flying duck about what they were doing/why.

Perhaps that feed from the smaller switch feeds another rack somewhere else via the patch panel  Tbh, i'm wondering what the reasoning behind the CheckPoint GW rather than utilising the second WAN on the 2865 with the 130/16* modem.
Good luck to @platypus sorting that mess though...
