******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Ground Vehicles:

  • More to cover gaps, specifically hover vehicles as opposed to transport.
  • Larger ground vehicles (like Cutlass size) are challenged by small vehicle hangars.
    • While ship hangars are large enough, many hangars you cannot drive out of, so a solution is needed before adding larger ones.
  • Interest in adding more ground vehicle gameplay/incentives for ground vehicles.

Ship Living Quarters/GS:

  • The role of a shipdetermines the standard of quarters:
    • No living quarters = soft cap on how far you can go (hygiene, food become limiting factors).
    • Long distance needs:
      • Living quarters, bed, food processors, toilet, showers, etc.
      • Food processors provide food, which necessitates toilets (lol).
  • Luxury ships: More personal quarters.
  • Military ships:Shared quarters.
    • This is a sliding scale of role.
  • It is planned that single-seaters will eventually allow eating and drinking from the seat.
  1. Ship Weapon Types:

    • Most weapons are coming from Squadron 42.
    • Focus on filling size gapsbefore adding new archetypes:
      • Current types: Ballistic, Energy, Distortion - Cannons, Repeaters, Gatlings.
    • Beam Weapons:
      • For larger ships.
      • "This is the year of beam weapons."

    Ballistics:

    • Reloading ballisticswill be split into two methods:
      • Ships with magazines attached can be reloaded externally (likely for fighter-sized ships).
      • Ships like the Hammerhead (too many guns) will have an internal loadernear the cargo area.
        • Similar to Base Building - ammo boxes fed into a machine, which then resupplies weapons.

    MobiGlas Ship Interface:

    • Unlock/Lock/Open doors from Mobi is highly desired.
    • The team responsible is also working on other player requests, like 3D landing camera.
      • It is on the list but not directly controlled by the ship team.

    Alternative Options for Missile Racks:

    • ECM Pods/Extra Fuelare probably not planned for missile hardpoints.
      • ILW will have alternatives for loading missile racks.

    Marine Seats on Ships:

    • Currently underutilized.
    • G-forces affect ‘loose’ actors, but mavity generators are not yet physicalized.
      • Hard turns cause ragdoll effects.
      • Once mavity generators are physicalized, hard turns will cause:
        • Progressive mavity failure (grav gen 'lag').
        • The interior could become zero-G.
    • Seats will ignore this effect.
    • Dropships need to be more survivable during drops (not tanky enough).

    Galaxy:

    • Interior based on Zeusrather than Polaris.
      • Perseus: Based on Polaris details/lighting but takes some Zeus elements.
      • RSI civilian ships (like Galaxy) will now have a more Zeus-style design.
    • Perseus isn’t coming at ILW.

    Caterpillar/Kraken Cargo Lift vs Elevators:

    • Caterpillar doorsrecently changed to go to ground.
      • Improves some aspects but worsens others.
      • If retroactively designed, lifts would be different.
    • 3-state doors: Desired, but doors can currently only have two states.
    • Elevators: Face synchronization issues (possibly network/visual).
    • Kraken concept: Will be reviewed soon (EOY pre-production).
    (edited)

    • CNOU Medium Ship
    • Combat Hovercraft
    • Mobile Base Vehicle
    • Large-scale Ground Exploration Platform

Perseus flyable at IAE.

  • Main turrets replaced with 2xS8

  • 4x PDC

  • 2x S3 remote turrets

More info:

  • Doors will be strengthened to make breaches harder.
  • Missions designed exclusively for capital missions are planned.
  • Torpedoes will have a minimum range to prevent their use at close range.
  • Turrets will receive additional buffs to make it easier to shoot smaller ships, however this requires additional weapons to differentiate further between ship sizes.
  • The Javelin will have a resistance to smaller weapon sizes, with S5 and up having a normal impact, S4 having a reduced impact, while anything below that will have "no hope".
  • Capital Ship shields will be able to regenerate despite incoming damage as long as the attacking ship or ships weaponry are below a certain threshold of weapon size.
  • Flak is coming, which will act as AOE projectiles that are specifically designed for use on Capital Ships against smaller vehicles. They will be automatic, similar to PDCs. Javelin will get it.
  • After Avionics blades come AI blades.
  • The Javelin will not have an enclosed hangar to park in.
  • PDCs will continue to shoot at attacking spacecraft.
  • In the future crimes will eventually result in UEE retaliation, all the way up to Javelin-level responses.
  • Apollo is in active development.
  • Pioneer will not release this year.
  • Elevator speeds will increase at some point.
  • The Nautilus is out of date mechanically and isn't worth thinking about right now.
  • The Vanduul Cleaver is not going to be flyable as it's just a cutscene in Squadron 42.
  • An orbital airdrop module is desired from John Crewe, but it's not currently in the cards.
  • A larger interceptor ship will appear.
  • The Javelin's torpedo can be used as a cruise missile, however it cannot be guided. They do say that it is a maybe in the future for human-guided missiles.

So blades sound like the version of npc crew which players like me could use on larger ships to play solo.
yes the current P2W is awful. i hate the buying ships for cash and then keeping them vs taking them off players who earned in game and so obviously making the blades genuine cash only and no option to buy in game is even worse and surely even the biggest fan of the game cant defend this.

I still hope (and believe) that once the game releases all this stuff will be persistent and unlockable in game... of course the game does need to release 1st. even if the game does not actually launch i think its getting close to the point that the paupers get to keep some of their stuff now (with the small print that specific bugs or players doing exploits will have their stuff - or some of their stuff - removed).

other than 30 mins of checking out i am not gonna play the game until my stuff earned is safe. its way to P2W for me.

yes its been pulled for now but 1) i think i am right in saying its only temporary isnt it? 2) even when released again and if purchasable in game they will still be like the ships and taken away in a wipe but the big one 3) it absolutely underlines the direction CIG want to go.

the complaints about "it allows the game to play itself" personally i do not subscribe to. so long as the blades are not as good as a good player, the way i see it they are essential because not everyone plays in a big group but they want to play with the big toys too.

i would prefer npcs, but blades will do.

i guess the main concern really is, as long as the gmae is pulling in as much as it is, not only is there no incentive to release properly and actually let the paupers keep there stuff, there is an incentive NOT to release the game

really... wow i thought they had stopped selling them for now (and not because of the video above, i read it elsewhere). ok i stand corrected then but not sure how this is a lol thing as that is even worse?.

edit i just read pcgames article again where i 1st saw it and they quote CIG as saying pulled from sale until available in game :/

Hopefully they can fix the glowy dirt and vegetation which should be dark(er) since there is no direct light source.

I see what you mean, erm no. it looks exactly like that, other than the lightning, haven't see any lightning yet but that could just be because reasons.... and its actually worse, if you wonder around you can see some of the light source assets reflected in the puddles

When the PTU is back up again i'll make an IC report about that, hopefully they will fix that before it goes live.
