What sort of short / lightweight jacket should I get for spring / autumn type of weather?

Also with a jacket like that do you wear your shirt tucked or untucked?

It depends. Where are we going? If we're just out and about with no particular purpose in mind then perhaps sir would enjoy something like this? We're not showing off but we're not being eyeballed by the security guy at Tesco either. I'd leave the shirt untucked. YMMV.

Quick arithmetic takes it to 200-ish pounds*

You can add in usages per dollar/pound if you like but the short version is: buy something you like, look after it, and it'll look after you.

* numbers are not my forte although neither are words.

Any recommendations for comfortable, chino type shorts? I bought some last year but the cut was awful and they crushed my nuts when I sat down.

Why would you need to spend loads? Long as something looks and feels nice on you,. then get it, doesn't matter where it's from. Ask a store assistant if it suits, they see people every hours 5-7 days a week so know what works or doesn't etc.

Plenty of good brands that don't cost the earth, though I tend to like understated style which isn't for everyone - a lot of my clothing is by Pentagon, Wrangler, Urban Classics, Linea and some odds and ends from M&S.
