*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

I personally can't get over how uncomfortable this device is. I get that it is better than s1, but this does not change the fact that it is still nasty to me (in comparison to steam deck, any gamepads etc). I play on tv only with cyclone 2, as all I have while playing handheld is unpleasant feeling.

I don't find it that comfy either but have a Killswitch on the way; I have to admit though I've actually been using it propped up on it stand and just using the Pro Controller when I'm having a quick blast rather than hold it!

In my shopping basket I have a 13" 4k OLED portable monitor that can be powered by a battery or directly off a USB-C port like a Mac...I have been thinking getting one as my travel work set up so I can use dual monitor with my MBP....anyway, normally I wouldn't get the touch screen version but I am now thinking i should get the touchscreen version because I can then use it with the Switch / Steam Deck. The problem however is the Switch wouldn't work without the official dock I think whereas the Steam Deck can output via USB-C to HDMI via a regular cheap USB hub.

I've got a similar screen here, I'll give it a go later and see if it does anything.

Looking forward to some reviews here of killswitch grips or genki?

Killswitch coming next week delivery times depending!

Is the expansion pass worth it for switch online?

I know it comes with the two zelda updates for switch 2 but I'm not sure if it's worth it elsewise

Easily worth it; I've played loads of the N64 and SNES stuff and now with Gamecube too

Nintendo Switch 2 Firmware 20.1.5 seems to help sort out some of the issues with backwards compatibility, Pikmin seems to work a lot better now.

I was wondering when the first firmware patch would come out. Will install it later today and see what (if anything) changes.

@Raymond Lin to confirm - direct USB-C out from the Switch 2 into the portable monitor does nothing at all... neither does HDMI via a USB-C hub.
I did read that Jaux were looking at making a Switch 2 hub so hopefully we'll see 3rd party ones soon

Yeah, I tried it to my monitor too (Huawei Mateview 28), which does 1 cable to my Macbook that charges my macbook whilst simultaneously also takes the video from the Macbook back to it as a 2nd monitor.

I googled it and I think the Switch lacks something called DP Alt mode, something that the Steam Deck has, but the Steam Deck is essentially a computer.

Which is a shame because to be able to use 1 cable to an external monitor without the bulky dock would have been great. Even if it doesn't run in the boost mode.

I noticed Mario Kart World got an update yesterday when I loaded it. Anyone know what was updated?

Fixed Issues
Fixed an issue where items were no longer able to be used.
Fixed an issue where sometimes controls were inoperable when selecting a character and trying to start Free Roam from the “Free Roam” map.
Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down when watching replay after a race.
Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down after a race in “Online Play.”
Fixed an issue where rate fluctuations were sometimes displayed incorrectly in “Knockout Tour” and “Online Play.”
Fixed an issue where it was easy for a communication error to occur when trying to join Friends playing “VS Race” or “Battle” in “Online Play.”
Fixed an issue where you sometimes slipped through the wall before the finish line of “DK Spaceport.”
Fixed an issue where you sometimes couldn’t return to correct position after falling of the course between “Airship Fortress” and “Bowser’s Castle” while gliding.

A bunch of bugfixes.

Well I caved and ordered one from the rainforest. Still think it's not great value for money, but the backwards compat/ upgrades swung it for me. I'll be re-using my pro pad etc. Really only got it for Metroid Prime 4 - such a big difference in fidelity that I want to play it on Switch 2. In the meantime, I'll just be finishing up my switch library - Tears of the Kingdom, Bayonetta 3 etc, that can really use the performance boost. Donkey Kong does look fun, however, but if they want £60, then the bar has been raised on what I expect in return.
I got the Mario Kart Works bundle. I'm so so on Mario Kart, but it kind of made sense based on price, if I want to try something new, or come back to it later in a year or 2.

What's the rainforest? Is it like Amazon

I suspect that's gotta be in error, and its actually maybe coming August; it looks like there is an error in the poster as looks like there is MEANT to be something behind OUT NOW, probably 2025.

Would be the most insane Shadowdrop if they suddenly launched a surprise Nintendo Direct and were like 'you thought you weren't getting another game until DK - SHADOWDROP - OUT FOR SALE DIGITAL NOW, PHYSICAL COMING AUGUST'.

Man...I'd be so tempted to get digital if they did this :D

Can never tell with Nintendo either; they're one of the only companies that still surprises us with shadow drops or new announcements for games we didn't know are coming, but that release a month or two later. It actually wouldn't be the first time they've done a 'Digital Now, Physical Later' either, probably to stop spoilers leaking.

I wonder if we'll get MP2+3 remastered as well, or whether those are just simply not coming - I'd read multiple rumours about them being cancelled, delayed, out of budget etc, and if they only redo one of the original trilogy, it makes sense it be the first, but it would be so nice to have the complete set.

Honestly a shadow drop Metroid Prime Quadrilogy on digital, with physical later, would be bloody epic...and its the sort of thing I could actually see Nintendo doing (especially if they can stick a nice big premium, limited edition, FOMO sticker, ala the Mario collection) on it lol

But I'm just getting excited that Metroid Prime 4 is finally almost here.

I've played Metroid Prime 2+3 in the past so not quite as excited there; albeit I could understand someone wanting to experience them all at once would be much better served with a remastered version, ala what Metroid Prime 1 got. I've held off playing it so I could play it closer to MP4, and there was always something just so spot-on about MP1, the atmosphere and music, magic in a bottle that MP2+3 capture, but not 100%.
