If his name was anything but Jones, he would have been stripped at 4 months without taking a fight.

UFC doing more to harm their integrity more than anything else here. Even though I hate the politics of Boxing, this **** would not fly in the boxing world, right?

Live now with Dana.

Jon has been stripped and Aspinall is now the UFC heavyweight champ!!

Edit. Not stripped, retired.

Tom retired Jones without even fighting him, what an absolute beast.
Jones has destroyed his legacy with this, no one cares about his long LHW reign when he refuses to fight the legitimate contender.

Just everything that's wrong with UFC at the moment.

Delayed and delayed - now says he's retired (we all know he'll be back at some point)

Aspinall has not fought in 11 months and only had 3 minutes 22 seconds in the octagon since 2023...

Titles should be fought for every 9/12 months minimum - if you can't meet that via injury etc - tough - just pointless having people "upgraded" to the belt holder without even fighting for it.

Feel a bit sorry for Aspinall. He's got no opponents now, he is head and shoulders above anyone in that HW division. He's already beaten the best of them, mostly in the first round. Depends if he cares about a legacy and big purses, which he probably does, he needs Jones to boost both. Next for him is probably Cyril Gane would you think? Can't see that being anything other than a first round stoppage. Unless one of the LHW stepped up but don't see much excitement there either.

Topuria certainly looks built differently. He will probably go on to be remembered as one of the greats, but I think he’s another one who just doesn’t have the superstar marketability.

It depends who you ask. Personally, I'm not bothered, but all sports benefit from individuals who attract a wider audience.
I guess it's a fair point in some regards. Rogan couldn't help but mention Conor post fight.

It was a good night for MMA last night / this AM.

Lining up Paddy now, sells tix I guess re your point. I don't see him winning, though (hope he does), Topuria is a machine.

Man would love to see Paddy win that one. But Topuria is a machine, really is.

Personally I like champs that aren't complete bells. I'm not an attention-starved child that needs my sports people to dance around for me playing the clown.

Topuria is a beast, he'll extend this unbeaten streak plenty more. I don't think even Paddy's chin would survive his power.

Would love to see Paddy v Oliveira, be a really good matchup.

I caught only the main event Sunday afternoon but very impressive from Topuria. You'd think he would have way too much for Pimlett if indeed he is his next opponent. I thought that about Chandler too though :D

Ugh, UFC at the White House for a night of truly unrelenting boot-licking and verbal fellatio. Nothing more pathetic than watching all these so-called tough guys getting on their knees.
