Spiders

Are there that many scorpions? Spiders I can understand

Yep, they love nice warm moist environments, ie. shoes. If you're out in the bush, it's standard practice to shake your shoes out before putting them on. Some Saffrican scorpions are venemous enough to kill a human if not treated urgently. Urgently as in like an hour, which is often far from possible when out in the sticks. The nicer ones will just paralyze you for a few hours.

Have you tried outdoor barrier spray? Spray around all doors and windows and lasts a few months, when crawling insects walk over the barrier they are poisoned, doesn't help for flying insects though
I have mosquito nets on the windows already.

They live int he walls and under the floors every house will have them.

you know when your house is being built its easy for insects to go inside, also any vents etc they can just crawl through if they wish.
even your roof won't be air tight, something like silverfish probably follow the condensation on water pipes into your house.

it's not the windows or doors, your house was never a sealed sterile building, even the building materials themselves could have transported stuff inside.

technically you could use self levelling compound on every floor to have it totally sealed, but stuff will still find a way in from other places.

there's no way any house is bug free unless it just got fumigated into every crevice possible, you just never see them.

that's impossible there are mites and silverfish in your house guaranteed, maybe even the odd woodlice somewhere.no doubt millipedes too.

you won;t see them in the daytime.

tell you what get some yellow fly pasper, only peel off one side and place it on the floor somewhere sticky side up.
in the corner of a cupboard or the bathroom floor is probably best.
in 1 months time I;'m sure it will have caught atleast a silverfish
Just looked up what a silverfish is. How have I gotten to the age I am not knowing what these abominations are?!

They were common in my childhood home, small victorian house without central heating, they'd appear in the bath. Full on mushrooms would grow on the wall too, that place was cursed. Haven't seen them anywhere else.

This is how you deal with a spider.
"Should have spent more time on the mats..."

This house is very spider-y.

We have loads. My 4 year old says they're his pets.

you're lucky the pipes to the immersion heater ran through my childhood bedroom and I woke up to find them in my bed

Edit: and my mom would come and get the spiders because she could hear them walking up the wall from her bedroom, stu999 spider is but a baby - lol

I see them almost everyday when most of the staff and public have gone home they come out to clean up on all the food debris left behind. Some get surprisingly large...
New(ish) build too.

I did look as well.... I've asked if this can be merged.

Anybody that doesn't like house spiders but can tolerate these, let them run wild.

In my old place, I had loads earning their keep. I saw more house spiders wrapped up in their webby balls than running around. absolute arachnid mercs!

Check out this bad boy.

That's a pint glass and I reckon that one of, if not the biggest spider I've seen running free in this country.

Yes it was returned to the wild safely.
Literally a bad boy, he's a male and is out looking for sex.

Thread remined me of a spider that I had never seen before and resembles a leaf.

I leave those ones be, well most of them. The ones that keep making webs that I walk into get put outside.

Think I saw my first false widow in the house, was incredibly black so stood out from the usual male house spiders.
