I had to save my daughter last night from some red legged brown body spider 
Or you can just keep all insects out of your house, that's what I do
I can't stand them, if they come indoors they will be getting zapped with an electric fly swatter. I get loads of them around this time of year, not sure what type they are, always pretty black, at full size they tend to be somewhere between the size of a 1p and 2p coin and are very fast runners.
If you stamp your feet in the back garden you will usually see hundreds of the damn things running, it's like something from the arachnophobia film in the summer

Good luck with that, many are all but invisible.
I find this works to keep 99% out; the only things that still get through is ants and spiders don't eat ants anyway
