*** Monster Hunter: Wilds Thread ***

First game in a long time that I can honestly say I may need to force myself to stop playing it as it’s becoming somewhat of an addiction. I have completed the story and all side quests (bar the ones I believe have released today)

I do really enjoy the game but I think they have made it too easy. Din Dahaad was the only fight through the entire campaign and since that I have died consecutively on. Since upgrading gear further I don’t think anything has managed to put up a genuine challenge. I want some battles of epic proportions but I don’t see it happening.

Its weird i enjoyed at launch, got every build going on a few weapons i wanted but found the game just too easy.
Ive updated but cant find the will to log in and play as im invested in other games now.

Same with me. Enjoyed it well enough when it launched but have drifted off to other games in the last 2 weeks or so.

took me a bit to start getting into it, still finding it easy so far but having fun and getting more interesting monsters appearing now :)

just seen credits so im guessing i can start playing the game?

im on a amd 7800xt is any one else experiencing horrible issues with transparency in this game when some something gets close to the camera? its like if im under a big monster its body dissapears into a speckled clear mess and the same happens with a lot of objects that get very close.

any idea what graphics option is causing that? (got every thing maxed out cept for distance shadows i think)

I don't know what I was expecting from TU1:
  • Having a gathering hub back is nice, but I still don't play online lobbies because of all the sticker spam - we can hide them, but why can't we silence the notifications?
  • Zoh Shia is good, I appreciate having a second full-duration Hunt (after Jin Dahaad) instead of the 4-5 minute arcade style that the rest of the Hunts follow. It's just a shame I don't like the fight itself.
  • Mizutsune is fantastic visually and is a good fight... but it just has the same problems nearly every other hunt has. Short duration just leads to it being nearly permanently CCed = extremely easy fight, and its locale makes large, agile monsters a fight against the camera.
  • I've never liked Arena quests, but I've cleared all 3 at A rank and I'm happy to see them return for those that like them... I don't plan on trying for the top 10k pendant on the Doshaguma event one, not having the option to use a Hammer just means I have no chance with my skillset. My biggest wish for Arenas is to make sure there's an option for every weapon on all quests.
Feels like this should have been the release build but they cut back to get the game released on time. Excited for AT Rey Dau in a few weeks though.

lol tried it on my steam deck earlier, was going out earlier and i downloaded it to my steam deck for a laugh, it ran like total pee but was good enough for me to spend a few hours running about collectiing random materials, ran any time a monster appeared an just going about random zones, it worked lol

oh god getting back to my desktop was a god send lol i will never complain about frame gen on that game ever again after trying it on the deck, kudos to the deck though for actually running it :P

Agree with the posts. I clocked serious hours on world. Wilds was too easy, I was waiting for things to get challenging - never happened. Mowed through the game and when I got to the end I lost interest.

I recall in world having to specifically grind armour and weapons types to beat specific monsters. I never needed to do that in this. You could default with what you were holding and beat them.

when i booted it up earlier it took a very very long time to rebuild the shaders and it feels a bit more responsive and seems to be running better, also noticed my fsr and frame gen sharpness was only on 50% whacked it up to 100% and looks way better now :D

Completed all the activities in the Festival Blossomdance. Not a fat lot to note and its all more of the same - event quests that don't feel any different than a regular quest. Double Lala Barina in the Wounded Hollow arena is a step in the right direction for what I want to see from event quests, but they're such a weak monster with a total hunt time of about 4 minutes per clear.

AT Rey Dau in 2 days. They'll probably be my last bash at this game until either the MR expansion or until I hear a big positive bump from a few TUs.

I had a bit of a second wind with this. I made a half decent Artian Paralysis GS, which I'm happy with. I don't think the stat rolls are 100% optimal, but they're good enough. I'll just slowly roll more Artian weapons when I get the materials.

Otherwise I was hunting some level 3 decorations, which I finally got after a days of grinding, and I also joined more online games and was becoming annoyed at people even in HR100+ dying, so I started learning Hunting Horn as my secondary. It's been pretty fun.

ATRD is a great fight. Well worth booting up the game for. Solid hunt length and an interesting AT-specific mechanic where
the delayed explosions apply to his attacks in any area, not just his lair, but can be permanently disabled by breaking the fulgurite on his wings & tail.

Still pushing for the A rank time of 13 minutes on the free challenge Slay quest, consistently getting 13:20-ish so far. Some gear changes will probably solve that, if only I could get the bugger to stop flying off for the 4th time when its practically dead.

I don't know when or what the next update is, but I'm looking forward to it now.

As in which game? This one. There are a lot of quality of life things that just make it nicer to play, especially for a new player (like fast travelling, auto-navigation to the monster, a mount so you're not running around everywhere), plus the difficulty of the game in general is far easier than the previous games.

As for weapons, it's really up to you which one suits your style. Longsword and Sword and Shield are pretty noob friendly weapons. Heavier weapons like the Great Sword or Hammer might be a bit more difficult as a beginner, because their animations are slow and you need a good grasp of both yours and the enemies' animations to know when is a good opening to attack, otherwise you're just going to get rolled all the time.

If you've ever played any souls-like games, there's a similar principal here of never getting greedy with your attacks, otherwise you will be punished for it.

MH world is the best game in the series and only €9.89 on steam right now.
Wilds is such a disappointment for me and many more.

Fun fact - there is more people playing World than Wilds on steam right now.

I’d also have said Worlds as a starting point, progression can feel a little slow but works out worth while in the end. Also don’t be afraid to join other or use the SOS flairs to summon help.
