Does anyone's game show Direct Storage as anything other than CPU? Xbox game bar shows as being supported and on a 4070.

Ugh, I've only just gotten to the forest, but I think I'm at the point where I'm just gonna skip most of the dialogue and cutscenes and go straight to the hunts. I don't play MH for cringey characters I don't care about and being forced to follow NPCs on a set paths. Monster Hunter is for hunting monsters!

A little OT, I’m working my way through Worlds, is Rise worth looking at before Wilds?
Yes. It's the most accessible of the MH games. Runs well ( as it was built for the Nintendo Switch originally ) and introduces improved traversal mechanics ( wirebugs & mount ). But do you need to play it to enjoy Wilds ? No.

Despite the performance problems, the game's peak concurrent players has blown right past some pretty big titles so far...

Yeah there is no doubting the actual gameplay quality but that performance haha.

I bought id earlier and after disabling fog in the config im now getting 100fps +in most scenarios almost max settings but [couple of postprocessing options that i hate in all games off] 1440P DLSS Quality DLAA i only lose about 10 frames but i am using frame gen which to be fair once your getting decent frames there is little to no input lag with FG on in any game ive used it.
Also since playing with a controller any input lag is deffo not noticed with controller.

7800X3D + 4070 , while the GPU is not S-tier its nice to have all the nvidia trickery.

@Cully, have you attempted to try out the Hi- Resolution Textures? I have the same setup, although I'm on 1080p.
No i had a look and saw it recommended 16GB VRAM.

The game is great but ive never seen a game looks so bad from required spec, it just doesnt make sense.

So you're telling me I had to spend middle 4 figures on my PC in 2023 so I can internally render a game at 540p and upscale it so my OLED screen looks like someone smeared vaseline on it?

They can't keep getting away with this.

They can because people keep pre-ordering games and buying ones that release in the state this has.

The more i play the more i come to the conclusion it is by far the ugliest game i have installed on my rig while being close to the most demanding.
I have always been on the side of gameplay before graphics but my God this looks like a PS3 game most of the time on serious hardware.
The funny thing is i still love playing it :D

It has it's moments, im still early the story, The fight with lightning what's its face was very pretty, But yes I agree that generally speaking world looked better and considering how taxing Wilds is on pretty much any system at the moment there's really no excuse for it. Thankfully I'm fortunate enough to have it running out pretty much 120 FPS and it still looks as close to as good as it can. But the gameplay is thankfully still as fun as world it's nice to definitely have the feeling back after the floatiness of what I experienced playing rise which I wasn't really a fan of.

Shame they still haven't streamlined the coop experience, when you have to release a video showing people how to join each other you know it's bad.

They didn't learn anything from world in this regard.

currently HR 40 doing the apex hunts, only got the forrest one left to do and I'm loving the game. Low Rank is a mess and I really don't like the story but it's a lot better in High Rank and closer to the typical MH fare, looking forwards to digging my teeth into the end game weapon grinding, some of the stuff people are doing already is crazy, para cb in particular looks insane.

I'm becoming a bit sus of the monster roster though, unless there's quite a bit left to unlock it's a light roster and no rapters to kill is sad even if the variety is better than world. I don't know why they didn't port more stuff from older games, 6 ish years of development after their most successful game to have one of the smallest rosters they've done in a while? It's dissapointing.

just tried it for the first time while umming and ahhing over the performance issues i have been reading about, seems to be performaning about the same as dragons dogma 2 on my 7800x3d and 7800xt.

the first town area the fps was going to 40 odd up to 50 odd on max settings at 2560x1440p when i enable fsr 3 i get 60 and frame gen puts it up to about 118 fps, guess i will tinker with the settings but happy that it doesnt have artifacts and can run alright :)
