NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

That's less for return postage than I was guessing it would be. I was ready to go £50+ since I've not made use of the 14 day cooldown period in years, especially for something this expensive. Thanks for the info.

You can organise your own postage but doesn’t make sense, £20 is insured and via DPD, plus any issues it’s via them. I haven’t ever used a return in 14 days either but I don’t think I will regret sending this back at all.

Yeah, £20 to get back just shy of £1900 is an easy decision if you're unsure. I think I will be heading the same direction.

I feel quite relived about it so that tells me I made the right move! :)

9070 XT ordered. Should do a good job. I was thinking of waiting for a 5080 super with 24GB, but let’s be honest if you get an AIB version it will probably be near £1500. Plan is to keep the XT until the 60 series but ideally see if AMD can pull something out the back with their next gen.

That sounds about right. There's wide price gap at the moment between 5080FE and 5090FE and you just know Asus is itching to fill that void :D

How come the 4090's are still selling for so much, when the 5080 is out? Is it people outside of gaming that need the extra Vram?
I just sold my 4090 last week for £1680. Shocked me, and then I saw a lot going for around the same price at the same time I could see retailers selling 5080s for a good few hundred less. I was convinced the buyer could be scamming or would have remorse and send it back, but he seems really happy and has left the positive feedback.

Still a better card than the 5080 in the grand scheme of things? But soend a couple of hundred more and get a 5090, warranty etc...?
Glad you didn't get scammed.

Faster with more vram? I think a lot of people were expecting the 5080 to be a replacement for the 4090 but it arguably isn’t. We all know 16GB on a card at that price point is ridiculous. Even the FE card is expensive but when you look at some of the AIB prices it’s utterly insane. 5080 just doesn’t make sense to me at that price point.

Totally bizarre eh. Who in their right mind would buy a used 4090 for £1700 at the moment, when you can get a brand new 5090 for a tiny bit more. Are people really that dumb? Actually, no need to answer that.

That's also what I was thinking. If you're buying a 4090 for 1700 2nd hand, may as well add a few hundred and get the 5090 brand new, or save 600 quid for the sake of a few percent performance and grab a 5080 with warranty.

Which 9070XT did you go for in the end?

I sold my 4090 FE with a water block on it in April for around £2050. Couldn't believe it. Free 5090. I paid £1820 for the 4090 and corsair block in summer 2023 and it's value increased by £230. Got the new card and Alphacool block for free and if I had waited until recently, with cheaper models being released I would have made a few hundred.

You lucky barsteward. You must have been well happy, I'd be over the moon at that.

Got to ask where do all these idiots hang out, where did you sell it? I'm guessing it's not the Member's Market on here as that seems to be full of total low baller buyers these days who largely take the ****. Doesn't seem half as active as it used to be and no wonder.

The big auction site. Luckily also timed perfectly with them scrapping selling fees. They took some cut, but it was tiny compared to overall profit. I actually couldn't believe it and was waiting for the email saying they want to return. Been getting on for 3 months now, so hopefully in the clear!

Anyone daft enough to get the RTX5050 :D
Actually came here looking for details - Not because I want to buy one but saw [competitor] promoting it on FB - Tried searching for reviews but can't see any, guess they're blue-balling reviewers again (except not I guess, as it'll be it's pretty obvious how bad they'll be)

edit: lmfao... TPU relative perf scoring puts it squarely between a vega56 and 1070ti :D
