Another cinema chain going down the pan

It's been a year since I've gone to the cinema (Dune: P2). While a nice thing to do, I haven't done it again due to nothing else in a whole calendar year inspiring me to 1 hour travel each way, sit through a long film with no interval, sit in a large, cold empty room (so it felt like it's already dead) and I watched it at home a few weeks later and enjoyed just as much with all home comforts.

Sorry, but for me, cinema is dead unfortunately. Streaming, the pandemic and Marvel killed it.

Incredible speech at the Oscar’s

I'd rather sit at home in peace without some complete **** in front or near me making lots of noise with their mates or using phones as in the past there actually used to be security! Prices are extreme for going to the cinema and that's not with the food included. Then there's the amount of terrible movies such as Disney ( marvel ) stuff.

No love for Cinema

Cinema runs on greatly reduced staffing numbers these days. But, one quick word with someone the moment people starting making noise and they will be talked to and I've seen people kicked out.
If you really want to support cinema then the various "season ticket" deals would be the way to go about it. £18 - £20 month for all you can eat cinema is a bargain.
Nobody forcing you to buy food. You can bring as much cold food in with you as you like
Just don't watch the Disney or Marvel stuff (latest Captain America aside - I cannot remember the last time I saw a Marvel film advertised)

Was thinking I could sneak in a quick visit to the cinema while I'm in the UK for a few days. Checked Vue cinema in Harrow (so not central London etc) 8.99 for tickets online (minimum price!) and 9.99 at the cinema.

I clicked on a few films and it seems within each showing they now have different tiers of seats! No idea if these are reclinable seats or something fancy. You pay the cheapest prices you have to sit at the front, medium prices, in the middle and highest prices, back rows!

I used to go to this cinema regularly about 13 years ago. I'm sceptical they have actually changed all the seats in every auditorium tbh, but if anyone has been to an out of town Vue cinema, I would like to know what the differences are in the seats (if any!).

p.s. this cinema doesn't even have any isense or IMAX etc

Edit: According to the seating plan there seems to be same number of seats per row, so they can't even be extra wide chairs etc!

I actually noticed this at my local a few weeks ago. I’m a regular and the only difference in the seats were their position.

3 tiers in total. Soon adds up for a family.

Most expensive right bang in the middle with the cheapest at the front and very back.

It’s as if they created class system for movie goers!! Well off in the middle with the peasants down at the front!!

Was it a vue? And what are the actual seats like? I did some googlgling and to be fair they are reclinable with foldout tables, but I just can't believe they have replaced all the seats in all the Vue cinemas, taht would have cost too much!

I'm a big advocate of going to the cinema, but they should stick to scamming people on food and snacks, once they arrive at the cinema. This type of multi tier pricing is gonna scare people off from even entering their establishments.

Omniplex. Now I can’t remember the prices before but the new teir system is new. Some of the screens do have fancy recliners etc dependent on location but the ones below are the same and 100% on position.

Standard
Most popular seats.
£8.95

Standard Saver
Popular seats.
£7.45

Standard Super Saver
Lowest price seats.
£5.95

Pricing is palatable, but I guess that's outside London (up north or Northern Ireland?)

I mean I don't really mind the prices (inflation etc), it's more the tiering. Hard enough to get people into cinemas, then they decide to split the potential audience into 3 classes!
