BMW and M Power Owners

Service records that are held on the iDrive

Anyone know how long after the due date it can be done and sill show the green OK symbol?

Web searches don't seem conclusive

meh still doesn't list part 51217404345 as being needed on an F60 Countryman :)
RealOEM is for BMW's, Mini theoretically isn't a BMW, although technically it is...

Neither is a Rolls Royce but I can get part numbers if I ever need to replace the Starlight Headliner on my Cullinan :D

TBF it's the only omission I've ever found on their parts diagrams that I've had to refer to on both my R56 and F60 Minis.

(Part in question is a pathetic little clip that I could no doubt 3d print if I had room for a 3d printer)

How did you get AA on your M140? Guessing some sort of aftermarket solution?
I got one of these.

Install only took about 20 mins and it's been faultless. Hold down the HOME button on the iDrive controller for 2 seconds and you can switch between iDrive and AA. I have mine set up to run the MMI box when I start the car and you'd never know it was there, no boot up time etc, it just works :)

Ah I see, so perhaps the connected drive stuff will keep stay working . If its only things like weather, traffic, news etc. its really not worth 120 of my hard earned

Yeah probably not worth it, I wasn't going to bother with an MMI at the time so I paid to upgrade the maps as I went down a road built about 2 years ago that it didn't even recognise :D

Another MMI convert here.. took me slightly longer than 20 minutes but not much.

The price/performance Vs BMW at £120 a year is laughable.

Do people usually ditch run flats for regular tyres?

I've got Bridgestone potenza S001 on the car at the moment and it's so crashy and harsh at low speeds. I know the M140s were always a bit bouncy in stock form but I'm wondering how much of this is tyres?

This is my first experience of run flats, they've got about 4mm of tread so good for a while but I am tempted to swap them out for a bit more comfort at lower speeds.

Yes, once they need replacing - I didn't bother switching over until the tread was low enough when I had my M140i.

Do you know what version of the MMI box Droid UK sell? Do they provide links to software upgrades for them? From my understanding they can connect via the cars Bluetooth these days and not AUX and it stops the hissing, is that correct?

No idea but I asked if they do softwares updates for them before buying and they said they do issue them when needed.

Mine doesn't use the AUX at all, it just works off the cars Bluetooth connection.

Only connections were the main BMW stereo harness into the pro nav, which goes into a splitter loom to power the MMI, the 2 fiber optic cables go into that too and then there is a display in and display out cable to connect up from the display.

It's bit of a squeeze if you have pro nav, as it's a double din unit but I managed to get it underneath just fine :)

How do you know if you have run flats?

Whole range of markings depending on the tyre manufacturer, but normally some variation of RFT, ZP or ROF

Almost 1 year since i bought the 7 series. I am thinking about BMW insured warranty and wanted opinions.

Car has done 40k. It is a great car, i love it and would prefer to keep it. It is however expensive to run. It had a wheel bearing replaced under approved used warranty at 35k but they would not cover the fact the wheel bearing had caused uneven wear on the brakes and tyre.

luckily the brake wear sorted itself out and saved me £1200 but i replaced the front tyres. Non runflats drive so much better. Michelin e-primacy also added a few MPG.

It currently has a drivetrain fault. BMW have remotely diagnosed this as an EGR fault. Hopefully this will be sorted under approved used warranty which i have until end of August. Trying to get that booked in now.

I have had my quotes for insured warranty renewal. £1492 comprehensive with roadside and £250 excess or £1405 without roadside. I do have lower excess costs but the jump is massive and £250 excess is fine with me.

I took the risk with my F10 and didnt get warranty. That car was a tank and other than regular servicing was rock solid and reliable for years. I am a little more nervous about this one. So many things to go wrong. What is the consensus? Do most go for it on a 4 year old car? or take the risk and YOLO?

Blurry pic of fault message for attention

For a car like that, which can throw up large bills when things go wrong I would always renew a warranty but thats me.
Are they that unreliable/expensive?

If you claim on the warranty, with excess, that's £1742 for that years repairs, assuming you only claim once. That's **** poor value if so!

I wouldn't expect any car that's only 4 years old and with such little mileage on it to need anything so expensive?
