Not surprising, when I left Monzo I got the sense they were trying to find a way to push people to their paid tiers.

That's why I've always preferred Starling. They offer for free what Monzo charges for. Starling has stagnated in recent years though.
Anyone found a credit card as good as Starling? I just want a decent app that'll use FaceID for logins where I can see what transactions are happening and use with Apple Pay.
I've got an MBNA card I've had forever but the website is absolute gash, and the app is no better, having to faff around typing in random letters from passphrases and other nonsense.
I don't care about interest rates, offers or cashback or anything, just want a good simple card with a good app.

Virgin works well for me. App only - has FaceID and a good interface.

Chase has a CC (I think it's generally available now), otherwise Monzo has one - it's those BNPL setups but works the same as a CC.
I primarily use Amex. They’re utterly amazing when it comes to any kind of fraud or payment issues. I have a paid one to collect air miles, but I’m sure they do cheaper/free ones.
If you are using a credit card, you may as well make use of a reward system. Some options literally cost you nothing and you get rewards. What’s not to like?

I use a Barclaycard Rewards card which has cashback, the app is fine, but I tend to just use Apple Wallet with the open banking connected feature to track transactions.

Regular Barclaycard Rewards user here to. I never go into the app unless I want to redeem my rewarded cash. Apple Pay only really.
There aren't really any challenger credit cards around. Tandem was one back in the early 2020s, but they decided to focus elsewhere. Yonder is probably the latest but isn't anything special.

My Starling debit card expires in September and I received a message in the app from Starling 2 days ago, saying they'll be sending me a replacement debit card within the next few weeks. They just asked me to ensure my address is up to date in the app.
No need to do anything manually, just double check your address is all up to date in the app and I believe they'll send you a similar message automatically at the start of September about sending a replacement card to you
